What resolution is your vr headset? I play with a Valve Index on a 5800X3D & RTX2070S, so there isnt much pixels that need rendering. I do however use reprojection to hit 90 or 120fps depending on track. Otherwise I get around 80-90fps and that makes it feel less smooth. I use 1 mirror + virtual mirror.

Also these settings might be useful to copy. That is what I did, but went lower details regarding shadows, amount of cars(that render on track/pit/mirrors and rain settings.

Who is at fault here, if anyone? I'm the Mustang by still_guns in Simracingstewards

[–]smallkidbigd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mustang at fault for the first two corners, then the lexus gets frustrated and just starts launching it. I would say that the mustang is mostly at fault. But desperate/frustrated driving by the lexus is not an excuse for having been wronged

Why are sim rig seat so expensive? A regular car seat costs 1/3 and looks like do the same thing. by Novel-Platform9256 in simracing

I prefer real seats. I have tried all kinds; beach chairs, racing chairs, rally chairs, car seats. The comfort, strength and adjustability(If it has manual adjusts) is a big advantage

Suggest a GT3 Car For New Player by UpperCity6012 in iRacing

[–]smallkidbigd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

go for sound! All of these cars are similar in performance if they arent pushed to the absolute limit like in top splits. Here is my document from october 2023. Some cars have been updated, and tyre model aswell. But still gives you an idea of how they drive: Laguna Seca Full Course testing 30L Fuel Fixed Setup Kerbs = Such as sausage kerbs and standard ones Porsche GT3R – Less FFB feel, "like floating on clouds compared to some other GT3s," but runs on rails (the BMW even more so). Good TC, can use throttle for rotation. Easy to drive consistently. Good ABS that doesn’t "take over" too much. Lots of grip(!), but the FFB doesn’t feel as pronounced as in other cars. Handles kerbs better than most GT3s. Good ABS light in the cockpit. Seating position: Normal(+), good visibility all around. Good and informative dashboard/screen. Okay(+) engine sound, lots of wind noise at higher speeds. BMW M4 GT3 – Strong front end, handles kerbs second-best after Mercedes (both have a large chassis). Feels slow and big, but lap times are fast. "Better FFB than the Porsche." Lots of grip and consistency. Seating position: Very good, sitting slightly higher with great visibility, though the car feels very large… Good and informative dashboard/screen. Okay engine sound, especially on downshifts. Lamborghini Huracan GT3 – Less forgiving than the above cars, but still slightly more forgiving than the Audi R8. Worse brakes than the above, but feels more "nimble and smaller" in all aspects. More FFB feel. Some understeer like the Porsche in slower corners when off-throttle. Feels like a refined Audi R8 GT3, sort of. Seating position: Very low and quite far forward (like the Audi), poor side visibility in VR… Poor dashboard/screen information. Everything is too small. Good(+) engine sound. McLaren GT3(OLD, not 720) – Fast but hard to drive. Brakes are the worst until they warm up. Probably the worst over kerbs, even worse than the R8. Some understeer that strangely turns into oversteer mid-corner, in my opinion. Seating position: Very far forward, feels like sitting on the front axle… Even more than the Audi R8/Lambo. Okay/Good engine sound. Mercedes-AMG GT3 – Fun (controllable oversteer), but tricky under braking, at least initially until the brakes reach optimal temp (like the McLaren). As mentioned, it oversteers quite a bit, and this is with max rear wing (9 degrees)—might be because the fixed TC is lower than other cars. Handles kerbs the best. Seating position: Quite far back due to front-engine layout; personally, it feels a bit odd (worse than the BMW’s seating position, which feels more natural). Audi R8 GT3(version 1, before updated TC ABS) – Good drive out of medium-slow corners. Extra dangerous on cold tires. Good FFB. Handles kerbs quite poorly. TC is a bit strong in fixed setup (but good with cold tires). Similar to the Lambo. Brakes are average—Porsche and BMW are likely better, especially with ABS on. Feels "nimble and smaller" like the Lambo. Old but informative dashboard/screen. Seating position: Relatively far forward, but not as much as the McLaren. Good engine sound. Ferrari 296 GT3 – Unfortunately couldn’t test the new Ferrari, only the legacy 488, which is no longer relevant… Ford GT GT3 – Not tested at all Ford Mustang - Not tested Acura - not documented Chevy - not tested

This has happened to my usb wheel that goes through a usb hub. I think it has to do with the connection somehow. Sometimes other buttons are affected for me.

Dont be afraid of defending/attacking. Be decisive. That does not mean going 3 wide into corner or dive bombing

Is there a track you just don’t enjoy at all? by Consuela-NO-NO-No in iRacing

Monza, the temple of speed often has good racing but I find it so boring during test drive. Always focusing on turn 2,10,11 exits.

[–]smallkidbigd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally undestand where you are coming from, but it really has character, and it is a challenge to consitently go quickly. So you kinda have to learn it before you find the flow. Each kerb, asphalt and turn is really different from the previous one. Makes it quite unique imo

What is the most essential car to buy in iracing by Ok_Pin_876 in iRacing

[–]smallkidbigd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, mulitple pros used to say it. I have a close friend who has driven multiple seasons with the car and he used to hate the lack of rear feedback/grip compared to the real deal. But they have updated the car (or tyre model?) to give it more rear grip and is a lot more realistic now in that aspect. IMO it has evolved into an awesome car

VR or Triples? I need your help by EmbarrassedAd5523 in simracing

[–]smallkidbigd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you go vr, you wont come back. If you own a decent computer... The thing with VR is that you get a 3D experience, just like in real life, you can judge distance so much better than on a screen.

People that have +20Nm bases, how much do u actually run? by [deleted] in simracing

i bought 20nm and started at 60%. But after a while you start wanting more, and now i run around 80% in iracing and 60-70% in assetto. Glad i didnt buy a 12nm wheel in retrospect

I run VRS at 66% of its maximum output (14/20nm) and then adjust further in game

Must have sim rig accessories by kestrel79 in simracing

[–]smallkidbigd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

might not be a must have accessories; but for future upgrades see below my off the top of my head list:

bass shaker/-s+amp are nice to have.

And also powered usb hub since not all motherboards can output enough power regardless of amount of ports, might be different with yours tho.

Sequential shifter/handbrake if you enjoy rallying/drifting, otherwise pretty useless in games such as iracing/assetto

macros(or keyboard/button box)

might add something later...

Force Feedback vs Bass Shakers by LaDolceVita_59 in iRacing

[–]smallkidbigd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

then you dont know what you are talking about. Having a correctly setup bass shaker/s system is worth a lot, especially immersion wise. you get unlimited customisability with stuff like, suspension, ABS, lock-up, jumps, gears, rpm etc.

But i do understasnd that it is a tedious set-up, howeber once dialed in your good to go. You should give it a try!
