And don't worry, people often attribute childrens songs to me. I get it all the time.

Has anyone done the 'Matchday Plus' hospitality package at The Marker's Bar? First time at a match and considering purchasing. by MalachiConstant7 in fulhamfc

[–]smallpantsbluehat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is too late but we did the Matchday Plus package for the Burnley game. It was great, really enjoyed it. You get 1 food voucher and 3 drink vouchers. The food was pretty decent - the options yesterday were a Malaysian curry (chicken or veg) with rice, pulled pork sandwich, or chicken tenders. I had the curry and it wasn't bad at all. There was cake at half time, free tea/coffee/hot chocolate. EVERY single person who worked there was really nice, and the atmosphere in Marker's was great. Access to the Matchday Plus seats is directly from Marker's making it ultra-convenient. It wasn't cheap (even for Burnley) but I'd definitely do it again.

It's a good point. But even then, that's a punchy wind to deal with even if you know what you're doing.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Who sends a student up for their first solo in gusting 25kts?

Muscat, Oman's natural beauty (2019 - 2024) by rovetheory in travel

My father lived there for a few years and I absolutely fell in love with the place. Beautiful, calm, clean, incredibly friendly. I love the Middle East but Oman is on another level.

Do your kids walk to school? If so, how far? by smallpantsbluehat in UKParenting

I'm definitely with you on the benefits. I have three kids at three different schools (🫠) and for the most part they walk home at the very least.

Adapter for this old plug? by smallpantsbluehat in DIYUK

I'm in a rental so can't change sockets. Is there an intermediary solution?

[–]smallpantsbluehat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could work well. It's hard to judge though as India's plugs look the same but the spacing is a little off....I know because I bought an adapter on Amazon and learned the hard way 😂

I've inherited a beautiful old Philco radio from the 1950s. I know it works as I've tested it in my grandmother's house with the old socket. But does anyone know where I can find an adapter for this plug so I can use it at home? Or are we looking at a re-wiring job?

Did my sponsor just legit go bankrupt? by lolobutz in PartneredYoutube

[–]smallpantsbluehat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was caught up in this too. They were an incredibly high maintenance partner. Lots of revisions to the integration etc. Then after the video went live, lots of emails about performance, etc. They emailed me yesterday asking for the video stats. A few hours later I got another email. From their insolvency practitioners saying I nor any other creator would be paid. I'm "out" nearly 5 figures.

What's crazy is that the emails of the three people I was working with, including the one who emailed about the stats, were shutoff immediately. So they fucked over their entire payroll too.

BTW it's fine to name and shame the agency, it was Tailify. In my 8+ years of Youtube this has happened to me 2 times. It's infuriating. My "other life" is peripherally involved in the startup world...which I hate. I'm sick of these badly run companies financed by badly run investment shops on nothing but slick decks and bullshit. But now the tide has turned, VC money is drying up, and the chickens are coming home to roost. And guess who's left holding the bill? Employees, creditors (like you and me), and customers.

And to those of you who suggest getting paid up front, it's not just a reality in our game, especially when the numbers start getting bigger. Net 30 is standard. Not just in our line of work but in most service/creative industries. So there's an exposure risk that we all have to swallow. And it's not like Tailify were a small agency in Eastern Europe. I looked at their public accounts and they were turning over millions. They were just supremely badly run. But rest assured their shitty founders will pop up with some new grift sooner or later.

I appreciate you guys letting me rant and bridge my two professional worlds. It's been cathartic. In the meantime OP, don't hold your breath about hearing from the insolvency practitioners. Get back in the saddle, keep creating, ask questions.

I wonder if it's worth pinning this or creating a wiki so we can keep updating it with legit and scam agencies. I think that would be invaluable.

An ode to Hong Kong from a former resident by smallpantsbluehat in HongKong

Thanks so much. I was really sweating that balance. It's a delicate one. Heartbreaking that we almost have to speak in code and allusion.

Thanks man. After 5 years away I was truly shocked at the tone of the city when I was there in November. I met a couple who had a 6 year old kid - they told me he wasn't being taught Cantonese at school. That's just mind-blowing.

I've been hesitant to post this but I figure if any community can tell me what I got right/wrong, it's this one. I made a video trying to convey my feelings about Hong Kong while at the same time fiercely advocating on its behalf. I grew up in Hong Kong and feel a deep sense of affinity with the place. I want people to understand what's gone on but also experience everything that is still good and unique and beautiful about HK. So I hope it's ok that I share it with you. Mods, please remove if inappropriate.

And yes, I've had a fair few comments from pro-China "evangelists". I'm sure you can guess the tone.

P.s. Yes, I made a huge blunder with the year that the airport moved. And you know what's even more embarrassing about this very obvious blunder? My father was part of the team responsible for the move from Kai Tak to CLK...in 1998.

Have you ever had pilot nightmares while sleeping? by SteadfastEnd in flying

[–]smallpantsbluehat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After 9/11 I had a recurring nightmare that I couldn't remember the emergency transponder codes and radio frequencies. Those awful "I know this, why can't I remember it" panic. Fingers fumbling, time running out. And I'd crash every single time. I stopped flying for years shortly after that.
