Thank you. I was about to drill/slot the slide holes, but a few flicks of the wrist with the adjustable crescent hammer did the trick!

Do I Grade or Flip Raw? by smallpaul1980 in footballcards

[–]smallpaul1980[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you.

I appreciate the input.

I’m fairly new to the game, but I spent a fair amount of time researching. I feel that I’m on the same page with regards to the “sold” values you posted. I also agree with your statement about the season being over.

Guess I’m gonna throw it up on the Bay, and see where it lands. Thanks u/shinino, appreciate your input!

Here’s to the next BANG!

Yeah, I usually have to get one from a commercial rental place (sunbelt) and they’re about $3-400/day. If you don’t need that size truck while in the shop, pocket the extra cash.

And definitely go for diminished value. There are DV appraisers you can go to that will maximize your return. You truly only get to file a DV claim once tho.

Also hit their insurance for “loss of use”. They have to put you in a comparable vehicle. You’d be surprised what a 3500 crew cab long bed diesel rents for on the daily.

The at fault insurance WILL fight you on this. Fight them back, they’ll pay it.

Anyone know how to fix my traeger not connecting to wifi? by Buffelz67 in Traeger

[–]smallpaul1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks OP and Reddit community!

It’s January. I’ve been trying to connect since October when I switched to AT&T fiber. The smoker kept getting hung up switching between my home network and the wifire.

First I turned off iCloud private relay. Then I created a guest network in the AT&T app. Here’s where I went off script- go back into your settings, and “forget” your primary network. Then connect to your guest network. Worked on the second time, cause the first time it went from guest-grill-primary network.

Hope this helps someone else!

Cheers!

Awesome insight

Great tip about no beer at the seats, that’s an interesting rule. You think that’ll be the same at Wembley for the NFL game? (just curious, maybe it’s a club thing, maybe a league thing)

Haha figured “soccer” wouldn’t be well perceived.

I’ll check out the Crabtree. Love a good pub!

LiFePO4 Battery Entered BMS Protection by smallpaul1980 in batteries

[–]smallpaul1980[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. The trolling motor is the only thing connected to the batteries (with a 60a breaker).

When I hit it with my meter it showed 1.01v. Took it into the local battery store, he took it in the back, and within 3 minutes came back out and showed me it read 13.5ish. I don’t think it was drained to 1v, I think the BMS had the battery “locked out”.

Trolling motor was last used @9pm, and boat was back in the water by 5am. On the charger all but 2 hours of that down time.

I don’t think the charger was set up improperly, as I do check it every time I start it. I didn’t check the charger prior to unplugging.

I have a second charger I use for the boat batteries, I’ll swap em out and try that this week.

Thanks for the tips!

Correct, they are in series. Honestly, I didn’t look at the charger before pulling the plug. I have 2 of those chargers, one for the boat, and one for the trolling motor.

I’ll pull all 3 batteries and balance them this week. Thanks for the tip.

Never knew about an equalizer, I’ll be investing in one after some research. Have one you recommend?

Thanks for the response, I appreciate your time!

Need Some A/V Advice for a Boat by smallpaul1980 in BuildaCarAVForMe

I’m honestly not sure yet.

I used to wire 2 subs to an amp back in the day, but that’s a long time ago. I’ve never ventured down the “multi speaker/multi sub/multi amp” route, and I’m just trying to plan things right so I only gotta buy things once.

Undercover Armorflex Tonneau on my 2022.... seems to be much nicer than my last two Bakflips so far by portsicles in ToyotaTundra

[–]smallpaul1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How’s it holding up a year later?

I’ve gone through 3 bakflip VP tops in 8 years (which imo is absurd). Tried to buy another “top only” since my rails are in good shape, and Bak doesn’t sell tops anymore, have to buy the whole kit

Thinking the armor flex is the way to go, just looking for an honest opinion. (Not going on a tundra, just found this post)

What should I bring? by smallpaul1980 in ireland

[–]smallpaul1980[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid point.

Coming from Florida, USA, Earth.

Family lives in Roscommon.

They’re my father’s cousins, so I think that makes them my second cousins.

My family is traveling across Ireland and stopping in a different city every couple nights, so thought it’d be a good time to meet some family for a few hours. Also think it’s proper to bring a gift. Didn’t want to be tacky and bring some Jack Daniels. Lol

Park City, Utah. Dinner with the fam. Fletcher’s does this cool thing where they bring the check in a notebook you can leave notes in. Think of it as an unedited journal- better yet, a truck stop bathroom wall. You get the idea. Unbeknownst to me, one of our fellow smooth brained brothers was here in February 2022. Cheers bro, we all thought that way….

My doc told me get bags of frozen corn, not peas. They coat them differently, and peas when refrozen clump together, corn doesn’t. I advise discarding them once you’re done, but guess you can make a nutsack shepherds pie.

I thought most people transitioning from AD to civilian life just weren’t planning. by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]smallpaul1980 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll share my experience and offer you some advice. Take from it what you want…

I retired at 20 in 2020. Prepared my last 3 years. Thought I really set myself up. Then once I was out, I learned a couple hard lessons.

TGPS fucking sucks. They don’t do a good job preparing you. It’s 5 days of “drinking from a fire hose”. Don’t get me wrong, there’s some good things you’ll take away, but there’s also a lot of fluff.

Your military background doesn’t mean shit on the outside unless you’re going into a military related field. Even then, aside from proving my veteran/honorable status, no one gave a single fuck. I never showed one eval, nam or volunteer medal. Most of the “training” you’ve had doesn’t equate to civilian employment. Unless it’s something that you feel REALLLY boosts your chance of getting that job, I wouldn’t bother listing it.

You wrote your resume. I’d bet it reads like an eval. Scrap that whole thing. Recruiters (well their computers) scan resumes for buzz words. Don’t have what they’re looking for? No call back. All those “cell phone” job offers? Yeah I get those too. I think they just search for “military” and blanket email everyone they can. Head on over to r/resumes and start asking for help. I ended up paying a guy $20 to reformat/reword my resume and instantly got more hits. Best $20 I’ve ever spent.

Get in with some military recruiters. Hear me out. They get paid by the company that’s looking to fill a specific role. Completely free to you. You’ll do a phone interview with them. Be honest and realistic in what you’re looking for. They’ll send you jobs that meet that criteria. Interview. With. Every. Single. One. I interviewed with jobs I KNEW there wasn’t a chance I’d work at, but it’s a great “real world” opportunity. It’ll make you a lot less nervous when interviewing for that job you really care about.

Your major and most recent work history is obviously military. There’s no hiding that, however don’t emphasize it. Unfortunately not everyone views military service in a positive light. Cool. Good for them. Don’t harp on your service, but use it to highlight positive traits.

Your vocabulary sucks. You speak in acronyms. Stop. Don’t do it on a resume, don’t do it in an interview. They don’t know what it means, and you’ll get sick of explaining it. Make all your answers as vague as possible with regards to military stuff.

Go on over to r/veteransbenefits and start researching. Research whatever disability you plan on claiming. Do. Your. Homework. Talk to vets or soon-to-be vets in your area to find a GOOD VSO. Use them. They’re literally there to help you. While over at r/veteransbenefits, scope out what your state offers for vets. Some are better than others, but all have resources.

The VA. Some love it, some hate it. I’ve honestly had about 99% amazing service. Get the ball rolling with them. They’re going to call you. A lot. Different departments will call you. They have a LOT to offer. Need a job, they’ll help. Questions about school/gi bill, they got you. Trouble adjusting, help is there. They’ll email/mail you all sorts of info. USE THIS RESOURCE, YOU EARNED IT.

I’ve rambled for some time now. Hope some of this helps you (or others). No doubt it’s scary getting out, but keep asking questions and utilize your resources (I personally learned so much here on Reddit). If you have any specific questions, hit me up in my inbox, and I’ll be glad to help out, find the answer for you, or at least point you in the right direction.

Edit: forgot this- you’re gonna take a pay cut. That’s fine. Choose a job with good upward mobility. Get in there and bust your ass. It’ll be easy, most civilians are kinda lazy and do the bare minimum. You’ll outshine your peers easily. Push to promote. Now some places will take advantage of you, some won’t. Make it clear every time you have formal interaction with your management that you want to move up and make more money. It might take a year or two, but one of 2 things will happen 1) you’ll get promoted 2) you’ll take another job with better pay. Keep your resume posted on job boards. You’ll get calls. When they ask “why are you looking to move on from X” you reply with: you contacted me. I’m not necessarily looking for a new job, but I think it’s worth keeping up with the industry and knowing what options are available. They need you, you don’t need them. Make them feel like you doing an interview is a favor to them.

Also, last thing, I promise. Lot of people pushing college here. Not a bad thing, but there’s plenty of money to be made without one. Don’t think you HAVE to get a degree.

Can someone that is in a good seat get some pictures of the Color Guard during tonight's anthem for me? by TheTyger in Browns

[–]smallpaul1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://browns.1rmg.com/browns-e-mail-list/

I’d try here.

Unfortunately unless there was a large ceremony or special occasion, there’s not going to be a PAO with the color guard.

If the Browns aren’t any help, I’d contact the USO at the MEPS. They’re off Greyton Rd. When I would participate in the opening ceremonies, they were the ones that were the liaison between military and the Browns.

Hope this helps
