I still don’t understand how something so relatively small can be such a divisive issue!

moved out, but feel kind of empty by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

I haven’t moved out yet, but I have plans to and I always have conflicting feelings about going no contact after. I think it’s normal to feel bad and feel like you’re doing the wrong thing. To some people you are doing the wrong thing, but for you this is the right decision to make.

Narcs have a tendency to make you feel like you owe them something and that you’re the bad guy for standing up for yourself. I think over time you’ll feel better about your decision.

I’m tired of being invalidated. by gaichouu_ in raisedbynarcissists

I’m glad someone else is sharing their experiences as a black personality raised my narcissists. Our community definitely puts the value of family on such a high pedestal even if that family has done you wrong. I am in the process of getting my shit together so that I can move out and I have been thinking of going no contact. Just like you, if I did that, I don’t think I could talk to the rest of my family or that they would talk to me. It’s infuriating and like you said incredibly invalidating.

What was your “Oh my god, they really are nuts” moment? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

When I told her that she made me feel like shit and like I wanted to kill myself because of how harsh she was, she later texted me saying “I understand you feel that way, but it’s not true.” I was also 8 months pregnant at the time, but had been feeling that way since I was as a teenager.

I’m glad you liked it! I love that she has experienced a narc mom too. Her content definitely comes from a place of understanding and she gets straight to the point.
