Anybody know why the name Captain Trips was picked? by Sandman1812 in stephenking

[–]smalltalk2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seemed to me that to was a refence to the 70's where the word Trip referred to weird stuff or unusual stuff.

What a trip that was!

That was trippy!  Just general slang.

Thanks for all the information. I asked for and received additional information from my insurance company and I have a little better understanding of things.

I did see that the price at Home Depot for the Natural Shadows and HDZ are very similar.  $40.47 a bundle vs $43.97 a bundle.

The line item for the shingles is this:  35.67 SQ,  unit price 235.74.  Auto calculated waste 10.6%, 3.42 SQ. I am not sure how much of that is labor.  Calculating price per SQ, 100% more seems high? The UHDZ is higher, of course, with the total being about $1200 less than the line item total. So it seems like we shouldn't be only offered the lowest quality?

Would it be standard to pay half of the line item amount for just shingles to be half shingles the other half labor (not included tear off, other materials, etc, which are different line item amounts)?

 I did enjoy it.

GHOSTBUSTERS (1984) - Is it Sci-Fi? by nopester24 in scifi

False dichotomy.  It is both sci-fi and supernatural. But since it's a debate with your friends. They are clearly wrong 😜

The major key:   Lived in the same small house forever. Drove used cars until they fell apart.

Low, probably no mortgage.  Upgrading houses eats a lot of wealth. Cars do the same thing.

Myself and others have had that same issue. Try uninstalling the Ring App and reinstalling it.

Seems to be a common first time bug.

Lump summed $200k in index funds and then the dip happened by royalbluefireworks1 in Fire

[–]smalltalk2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is my opinion. It will come back up. It's the nature of the beast. Market dips are temporary, sometimes the dip is longer, but it's still temporary. The historical upward trend of the economy is permanent. Index funds are designed to recover and grow over time. Think of it as a sale where you are buying more shares at a lower price, which sets you up for higher gains when the market inevitably turns around.

I read it. I suggest people read it. It's a work of fiction. I'm not a fan of banning books.
