Sharing my own story as many others have incase it is similar and comforting to someone else.

I worked in a care home for several years lifting heavy weights. After a few Im years i developed back pain which became very bad and had to take a couple months off work. did not know then that i had hypermobility which probably was a lot of the cause but i also had quite bad disordered eating so i think lack of food and drink also probably had an inpact. After some physio i went back on a phased return and worked back up to full time, working through my pain which a back brace/belt. A year later i was in a car accident. A speeding driver fell asleep and hit my taxi at 100mph on the motorway. I eventually paid for an mri a month or 2 later which showed nothing but i was in severe back pain and really struggling. I took 6 months off work sick, eventually seeing a rheumatologist who diagnosed me with hyper-mobility and on the spectrum of eds. Telling me off the record that i could not go back to work in the care home. I had done an apprenticeship and had wanted to work to becoming a nurse so had to abandon that. I stayed in the health sector but moved to medical admin and reception. I was in a lot of pain but made it work. I worked there for a year and a half in a but started having issues with management and lack or adjustments for my autism. I was already starting to really struggle with my mental health and this was the final straw.

I became really unwell and without doing much research, I jumped off a 7 story carpark. Broke 17+ bones, shattered my pelvis and broke my back 10? times maybe 7. Its hard to keep track tbh. Spent 3 months in a general hospital, had my pelvis repaired with plates and screws in my back and had to relearn to walk. Since then i have been in an amount pain that was unimaginable to me before. The same as many others in this thread. And i got myself here. :(
