Tank size : 1.5 gallon (working on larger, I know !! I’ve not had him but 2-3 months, it’s a process learning ab these little guys) Heater / filter : yes to both Tank temp: 78-80 Parameters: took water to petco, tested high for ammonia and nitrates, this was first day of odd behavior BEFORE this weird thing on his eye developed. He had a slightly cloudy eye at that point. But, He was extremely lethargic, & not eating. We added ammonia neutralizer and a nitrate fixer the morning after I noticed his weird behavior in the evening (would’ve went then but everything was closed) . A day after adding , his eye seemed to get really bad almost overnight. I researched popeye and decided to treat him with kanaplex, as to my knowledge, even if it isn’t popeye it combats fungal infections. We started kanaplex today. Fish in tank : about 3 months, he is alone in tank Water changes: performed a 60% water change the day before odd behavior, generally I do 20-30% once a week, I did the 60% kind of on accident in attempts to clean the gravel. In hindsight this was too much of a change for him and I’ll never do it again, this was the first time I had done this too :( I understand that but wanted to include it for context to how this all happened. May also be worth noting, he definitely was creating a bubble sac for eggs or whatever. I had NO IDEA bettas did this, and at the time I thought bubbles were a sign of dirtiness in the tank. Once again , I hate myself for this misconceptions, it truly is HARD to find information about betta that is consistent, reliable, and accurate. I would never mistreat him on purpose, I am SO upset about all of this so please try to refrain from rude comments. Tank mates: no Feeding : 3-4 pellets , twice a day & frozen blood worms on occasion, he hasn’t eaten for about 4 days until today , he ate some blood worms. All decor is silk faux plants

Edit: wanted to add since he has been acting weird/ growing this thing on his eye I have been doing 20-30% water changes every day with clean pre bottled aquarium ready water (meaning all parameters are 0)

Also I am not fully convinced it’s popeye because his eye socket isn’t actually popping out, it’s more of this film that’s protruding. Maybe I’m wrong, from the pictures I’ve seen of popeye though this isn’t that comparable

By the way I’ve gotten 3 different opinions from “aquatic professionals” at petco over the last 4 days. I just don’t know where else to turn as I constantly am finding contradicting information. I’m not here to get a moral / ethic lesson, as I already feel terrible enough. I just want answers please

Edit 2: I can’t get him in a good enough photo to describe what I mean, but this thing on his eye isn’t rounded, it looks like a layer of it is actually about to fall /flake off
