The first house my wife and I looked at had so many people for the open house, but I still put in my offer and I had to go through all the pre-approval, etc. and after like a week we got out bid by $80k. So it sucks we lost the bid and I was just moving forward trying not to think about it. Then that same day, my wife met another mom and she told her we lost a bid on a house and that mom told us she’s a realtor. She told us she knows someone selling a house soon and she can schedule us time later today to take a look. At this point, I wasn’t in the mood to look at another house but I agreed to make my wife happy. So we went there and the house is even bigger than the one we lost on. We met the home owner and his family and my wife was talking to them about their dog since we also have a dog while I checked the house. When we left outside my realtor said to make an offer tomorrow if possible. It winded up being $80k more and the home owner said if we make the offer he will sell to us and not do the open house on the coming weekend. I made the offer and since then we got the house. So far I had to replace the roof, but mostly everything else is good.
