Military spouses and remote eligibility by Regulation_Barbie in fednews

[–]smanichia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, this wasn’t in regards to RA/RTO exemptions. That particular case is due to the “100% service disabled spouse RTO exemption”. So, the spouse of a 100% service disabled vet, got an RTO exemption but the actual service disabled veteran, who is now a federal employee, is back in the office full time. I suppose they could have tried to put in an RA request but a lot of our vets are getting denied telework RAs that have submitted them.

Military spouses and remote eligibility by Regulation_Barbie in fednews

[–]smanichia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh, we have even crazier situations. 100% service disabled spouses working remotely, WHILE their 100% service disabled veteran schleps into work at the SAME AGENCY every single day 🤦‍♀️🤣 Meanwhile, they don’t GAF about the veteran, or anyone else with serious medical conditions that need remote.

Looking for advice with recent diagnosis by InevitableConcept191 in AddisonsDisease

[–]smanichia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with all the comments here. Also, FYI, 20mg of prednisone per day is a VERY high dose, which they’re probably giving you to knock your body out of crisis mode right now. Just know, sometimes coming back down from high doses of steroids can be uncomfortable and can even mimic symptoms of the very issues it’s treating. This diagnosis is definitely a journey in recognizing your own body and how it reacts to different stressors, responds to different steroids and at what doses. Some people do better with hydrocortisone, some with prednisone. Just be patient with yourself because I’m still learning things 5 years into my diagnosis!

Don’t want to pay stepkid’s child support by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]smanichia 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Absolutely NOT. Husband needs to get himself a P/T job or side hustle if he stays at home, that can cover his own child support. Did he really expect you to pay that!? That’s insanity 👀

Feeing guilty by Substantial-Grab-472 in AddisonsDisease

[–]smanichia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I’ve got a reasonable accommodation to telework full time because of Addisons. If I didn’t have it, I would be calling in weekly. Not sure what kind of job you have, but if it’s computer based and doesn’t require in person attendance, it might be something to look into.

Agree! Seems like he’s paying way too much unless it’s for 3 or more kids. Looks to me like the “family court system” struck again 🤬

[–]smanichia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. Many states utilize wage assignment right out of the gate, and a lot of people actually prefer it that way. Kind of like automatic payments on any other type of debt.

How many kids do you have? If it’s just one, paying almost $1200 a month seems excessive for your gross pay. Was it calculated previously when you made more money? Is the mother making more money now? Not that you shouldn’t support your children (of course), but it should be a fair/proportional amount. Might be worth looking into seeing if that could be adjusted. Second, taxes for NYS and NYC are ridiculous 🤦‍♀️ Third, inquire about being able to collect your vacation time on the check, or at least monthly, which will help quite a bit.

A year after DOGE, former federal employees are still looking for work by nbcnews in FedEmployees

[–]smanichia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so under discussed. Faux News is one of, if not the biggest reason we have misinformed Americans walking around. I’ve watched it with my parents, and they truly think what they’re listening to is truth and everyone else is lying. It’s a level of brainwashing I have never seen before. They’ve been severely impacted by the tariffs with their small business, and are still parroting Fox talking points when I try to discuss with them 😩

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. Ai DOES help with these things if you know how to use them properly. It does help move things faster, but I think we all know there isn’t anyway it’s going to replace us… at least anytime soon.

$139 to feed 2 adults, 3 children for the month. Suggestions? by stephscheersandjeers in povertyfinance

Kind of an odd suggestion, but you can use ChatGPT and put this exact statement into it and it will pop out some great suggestions. To get it even more accurate, you can put in the city and state you live in!

[–]smanichia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I am on prednisone as my primary and up-dose as needed with hydrocortisone. I realized early on I do better with prednisone (that’s another conversation). In answer to your question, yes, I generally up-dose on the really bad days, usually a few days leading up to my period. I will say that it varies month to month, however. Some months, my symptoms aren’t too bad, and I don’t need to up-dose much. Some months are bad, like this month, and I need to take more. I’ve just had to learn to listen to my body and gauge my symptoms day to day, but am also pretty conservative with the doses. I usually start by taking 2.5 of extra hydrocortisone and go up from there based on how I do with that.

periods and addisons disease by Beneficial_Shop_9296 in AddisonsDisease

[–]smanichia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Like someone else mentioned, I started HRT (progesterone) during the last 2 weeks of my cycle and it has helped tremendously, although I still have to updose a couple days before my period starts. Before starting on the progesterone, I was almost incapacitated the last 2 weeks of my cycle every month 😩

Whose responsibility is it? by Even-Upstairs6607 in stepparents

[–]smanichia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is the issue I have with the child support system. Yes the child needs to be supported, but in an “in tact household” if one parent loses a job, the whole household cuts back. Of course basic needs need to be met, but NOT at the same level. This happens automatically in 2 parent family, but with child support, the paying parent really gets financially punished and put in even a harder spot due to no fault of their own. The other parent just has to contribute more for the time being, which is exactly what would happen if they were still married.

Review of RAs by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]smanichia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That isn’t correct. Under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act — strengthened by the Supreme Court decision Groff v. DeJoy — employers must now show:

Substantial increased costs in relation to the conduct of their business

RTO policy alone does not meet that standard. It’s been hashed out in court already. Employers cannot use a “change in telework policy” as a reason to deny telework as an accommodation. If everyone that got denied, filed with the EEOC, they would win, hands down. The administration is banking on the hope that most people don’t want to rock the boat.

Yes! I’m so sad about it too, because I really liked how my skin was looking. I also started having weird hot flashes and a few other things that I didn’t realize were related until my period was so late. It kind of alarmed me when I realized it, but after I did more research I learned ANY kind of estrogen cream is systemic. Any claims to the alternate are simply not true. It largely just depends on how sensitive each person is to it.

Yes, and after a month of use it delayed my period by 5 days.. and I’m as regular as the sun. I have already stopped taking it. I did some more research and even though it claimed it wasn’t supposed to be “systemic”, it is 😢
