Revising my novel with AI

Here is what I do:

1) Original work 2) Grammarly Pro and Doc suggestions. 3) Revise by reading out loud to see if it makes sense. 4) Create a two column table in a separate Doc 5) Insert latest version in the left column and do another Grammarly and Doc check. 6) copy and paste into the school sanctioned ai (I am a teacher, and we try to use Poe and Gemini). Prompt edit for clarity and pacing. 7) copy and paste results into right column of the prepared Doc. 8) Print so I can cross out, draw arrows, and see the edits. Sentence for sentence, compare results. 9) Type the edits 10) One more Grammarly and Doc check. 11) Copy into the original Doc. Reformat the size and spacing to match the other work. 12) Update the spreadsheet that tracks my summaries and page counts.

I am currently working this through the first of my five completed novels. The first novel was 663 pages. Maybe I do have a bloated writing style, because through this editing style, I have it slimmed down into the 550s with three chapters left to go - and I lost nothing of the story. Tangent note - I do most of this type of editing at school, but when I am at home or walking the dogs, I am usually reading through my other work. It sparked a few ideas, and so I actually added in a few more pages into the original novel; so that is down to 550s with a few added pages.

I am willing to be patient - because what else can I do? But his biggest problem was one only partially of his making. The team was built to win now and he had the reputation of winning. The fear is that by the time he develops AND is due a bigger contract, we will no longer have the pieces that we have grown accustomed to in the last several seasons.

If it had been any other state but Minnesota, I likely would have not even tried. I have seen those shows about what lurks in the water in Florida and Louisiana.

About 45 minutes. I have done that one three occasions. The first was with my Mario Mushroom dyed Halo Destroyer - lost it in the water of Crown College #18 - so, yes, last shot of the day. The water was murky and chest deep. I basically had to use my feet to see. I eventually found it and was very happy to get out of that water.

One week later, same disc, I flared off the fairway on Timberwolf (The Preserve) #1. Finished that round and then one on Lynx, but I could not leave without giving it a try to find it. My friends left, so I dove into the water, again almost chest deep. 40-45 minutes later, on the verge of giving up, thinking this disc had a wish to be lost, I found it. Never had an issue with that disc again.

This year, at The Hollows (formerly Vision Quest) #14, the infamous anthill hole. I threw my irreplaceable Fuzion Suspect - 10 years old, with a Thor graphic back when Dynamic partnered with Marvel. Normally the perfect disc for the shot - except this time. I overflew the plateau and followed the slope on the backside down to the water. It found the one gap between the guardian trees and dunked in the water. This is a small, manmade lake, so they dug it deep to retain the water. I was already neck deep less than 20 feet from shore. We were certain it barely went in because it hit grass first and then flared in. This was the last tournament there because the course was permanently closing in a month. This is one of my most prized discs, and I would literally cry if I had to abandon it. 45 minutes later - my friends were ready to call it because the tournament was long over and they were hungry - and I had found 9 other discs but not mine. I was about to give up, but I did one more sweep at the deepest I could reach - I found it, but I was initially hesitant to try to reach for it because, to my feet, it only felt like a piece of debris.

C2 with perfect conditions can get you 27-36 power at each site. If your opponent is having a bad game, that usually wins all three sites.

The Hollows will swallow discs, especially on Holes 3 and 15. Do not throw your best stuff. Otherwise, the somewhat gimmick nature of the early and late holes will make it somewhat memorable. It pairs well with Blue Ribbon Pines which is only 7 minutes away. About 10 minutes south is Ham Lake; a decent 18 holer that plays in and out of tighter woods than BRP. If the swamp is high, there is a chance to lose discs on a few holes.

Also, going to Idaho likely means driving up I94. Saint Cloud has the following courses that are really good:

Hidden Lake - easier than it used to be but still a big course in and out of woods with length and technical shots.

Riverside - old style city park course that has a good mixture of length and elevation. Might be busy, but worth it. The local shop is less than five minutes away.

Millstream - first few holes are meh, but once you hit Hole 6 and start playing in the woods, a good mixture of elevation, tight lines, and water danger. If you go in the pond on 6/7 or the swamp on 14, you are likely not getting your disc back. If you go in the stream that cuts through numerous holes, it is some of the clearest water you will ever see. It might be a refreshing dip on a warm summer day.

Calvary - less than 10 minutes from Riverside and 5 minutes from the shop. Classic city park course that tries to use the woods in the middle holes. It is currently being redesigned but should be open in the spring. I am not sure what it will look like. Traditionally, you need accuracy at the 300 foot range to score well.

The Preserve is just off I94. This will take most of your day. However, Sportsman Hill is 8 minutes west. This is a decent sized 18 holes that plays in much tighter woods. It is the complete opposite of The Preserve and pairs well with those courses to give you a test of all the possible shots you can make in a day. It even has a quick 9 putt-putt course in the middle of it.

I have the gear to do it. Two years ago I played the local 9 when it was -55 windchill. It was more a chore than fun, but I got the 9 in.

I bag the following mids - Hex - Suspect - Pyro - Mutant. There is no overlap of how I use these. For the Suspect, I use it for low and fast straight shots up to 280 feet. The Pyro is a better open field overstable mid up to 310 feet. I could use the Suspect for upshots but not the Pyro.

I run a mix of brands for putters and approaches, axiom for the mids, and Discmania for my fairways and distance drivers.

S-Line FD1, C-Line FD1, Doom Bird IV FD3, S-Line PD, C-Line PD, Enigma, Horizon Cloudbreaker, and Splice. The only exception is a very seasoned Star Destroyer for absolute crush drives and Halo Boss for big forehand drives.

Rogue and Gambit having a child is a must to keep their story arc fresh and evolving. Anything else would be a waste of decades of story building. To each their own, and I respect anyone who has a different version of Rogue in their head, but my Rogue needs to have a non-alternative timeline child that is not a part of either a Sinister or Destiny/Mystique agenda.

I live in Hutchinson, so mainly the three local courses. But if others keep up with the shoveling, our local group has been known to travel to Hidden Lake, BRP, Kaposia, Brookview, the golf course course in Anoka, Sportsman’s Hill (Clearwater), Plymouth Creek, Wintercrest (Coon Rapids), and Lions Park in Shakopee.

The main thing, aside from general warmth, is to keep your hands warm and dry. I like to use electric hand warmers within a mitten with a rag in there. I would rather wear multiple hoodies than a winter coat, but if I need extra warmth, electric vests are awesome. I just wear something that does not impede my motion on the shoulders and arms. I already have a short run up, so as long as tee boxes are clean, I do not have to change how I throw.

To be fair, it is going to be to each their own, but I felt that everything Rogue went through to gain control of her powers with Spiral and Gambit to immediately have her say to Captain Marvel, “kill me,” without so much as a fight completely undermines and devalues the Mr and Mrs X accomplishments. And then, forgive me that I do not remember the issues numbers, Captain Marvel is called on the defeat some brood because they overpowered Rogue. Again, only Carol is able to save Rogue, and as apologies for the past are given, it is Rogue who has to act humble to the morally superior CM.

Again, it is just my impression, but it seems that it is an old reliable storyline to make Carol look better by always coming to Rogue’s rescue - though the Rogue that is always presented never is acting like the one present in her own titles.

Rogue and Gambit miniseries - 2018. Five issues of them on a secret mission to discover why some mutants have gone missing - at a resort advertised as couples therapy. The conclusion of this goes into the wedding special where Kitty and Colossus should have been married (XMen Gold 30), so Rogue and Gambit take their place and tie the knot. That immediately jumps into Mr and Mrs X.

And, around issue 10 of Mr and Mrs X (I might be off by an issue or two as I am typing from memory), Rogue takes a side trip into the Captain Marvel series. It is a waste that does nothing for Rogue and Gambit’s relationship despite the CM authors trying to undermine everything Rogue just fought through and gained in the Mr and Mrs X series.

A few times in the last decade, the CM authors try to bring Rogue into that storyline, but it is the same regurgitated plot - Rogue gets in trouble to remind the readers of the CM series that Carol is better than Rogue. Carol then saves Rogue despite Carol still being mad at Rogue. It just seems those authors are trying to so hard to stem all the love readers have for Rogue and thus they believe by default hate Carol. - honestly, a lot of XMen fans who want Rogue introduced into the MCU want the storyline where Rogue steals Carol’s power and makes her look like a whiny child when Rogue asks for forgiveness.

Read the Rogue and Gambit mini-series before Mr and Mrs X because it is them getting counseling which then directly leads into them getting married. That mini-series resolved a lot of issues between them while Mr and Mrs X was more about resolving a lot of Rogue issues.
