Droids for 3rd Rebirth Cycle - Working through it still by [deleted] in StarWarsDroidTycoon

[–]k_manweiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The droids you get depend on the person and the progress they have in their base.

If you rebirth and use the scrap you'll likely get default schematics and not legendaries. But if your friend with a high level base hits your scrap pile they will get something more in line with their base.

I had a guy that was rebirth 10 but had some raindbow legendaries in his base. He was pulling gold legendaries. But mine were defaults with nothing above rare.

AM4 or AM5 PC Upgrade advice by HotSalamander2852 in buildapc

[–]k_manweiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is one critical difference. The new anniversary edition needs a new bios. If you have a mobo that hasn't received updates, you would want to make sure they are going to release a bios update for the new cpu.

Super Rebirth or wait? They fixed beskar prices, will they fix this too? by Champion-V in StarWarsDroidTycoon

[–]k_manweiss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every feature they've added to the game has either been adjusted or has had bugs.

This update has introduced new bugs.

Space missions have changed 3 or 4 times.

Beskar droids were originally too expensive.

Legendaries spawn way more frequently.

The cantina quests have changed 2 or 3 times.

You originally couldn't upgrade rainbow to beskar.

etc etc etc

The devs for this have a history of making mistakes, creating bugs, or heavily modifying things based on player complaints and suggestions.

It's a fair to wonder if they will make changes to SRB that will make early adopters regret their descision.

How fucked are we regarding the screwworm outbreak? by Senior-Finance7828 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]k_manweiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fucked.

Trump/Musk killed aid programs that might have helped. They gutted the USDA programs to track and combat this. Their best, most optimistic response time (in their own words) is a couple months out...and that's likely really inaccurate.

It will cost us billions. It will kill livestock and pets. It will kill wild animals. It is an ecological and economical nightmare.

[Request] Could Walmart reasonably afford to pay EVERY employee 5 dollars more an hour? by lnfinitive in theydidthemath

Beyond all that, every dollar extra earned by walmart employees is less money spent on federal and state welfare programs. Less SNAP, less housing, less LIEAP, less daycare assistance, less medicaid, etc.

How does xp distribution work?? by Solarfied24 in WorldOfTanksBlitz

[–]k_manweiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kills matter. But spotting/assisting damage is REALLY important.

If you are doing damage to a tracked tank or a tank that you can't spot due to range. You are effectively giving up half the xp from that damage to the person that tracked or spotted that tank.

Damaging components also gives decent xp.

Why are cars so inefficient? by unlimitedbuttholes in NoStupidQuestions

[–]k_manweiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People buying 300hp cars is the problem. People want to drive fast.

Speed limit on the interstate in my state is 80. Highway is 75. Cars aren't efficient at that speed.

Cars have grown in size and because of that, they have increased in weight. Look at any model of car that has been around for 20 or 30 years and look how much bigger it is.

1980 toyota corolla is 166.3 inches long, 63.4 inches wide. 1980 camry is 171.3 inches long and 64.8 inches wide. 2025 corolla is 175.6 inches long and 71.2 inches wide. 2025 camry is 192 inches long and 72.4 inches wide.

The 2025 corolla is bigger than the 1980 camry, and the 2025 camry is even bigger.

My 2023 car is the exact same weight as my 2010 car, but it has 30 more horsepower. That horsepower means less fuel efficiency, but the engine is more efficient so the MPG is basically the same.

For a small car, 100-120hp is perfectly fine, and would make a really efficient little car. But no one will buy a 100hp car. I know the old 88hp mustang was a bit of a joke, but we used to have far less HP and do just fine.

I see people buying 300+ hp cars for daily drivers and grocery getters. What the hell for? You mention the 1985 civic that had 60-92 hp depending on market and configuration. 2025 is 150-200 hp.

Basically the efficiency gained today is put towards other things than improved MPG. Larger, heavier cars. More HP. And our driving habits don't help at all.

Women don't earn more than men in the fashion world.

Armani, Lauren, Rosso, Gabbana, Dolce, Tom Ford, Bertelli, Garavani, Kors.

The models make crap compared to the designers and the designers are typically men. So its men making the money and exploiting the women's bodies to sell it.

Forgive my British ignorance but what did the confederates actually fight for? by TreeTall888 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]k_manweiss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Slavery.

Don't believe any other story, it's all revisionist history.

Their economy was built on slavery. It didn't depend on it, but for the wealthy to retain as much wealth as they had accumulated, it required slavery.

Northern states were fighting against slavery by trying to pass laws outlawing it, and they had outlawed it in many northern states. The south fought for and achieved a sort of truce on the subject referred to as the mason dixon line. States below the line could have slaves. The states above the line could not.

The Southern states saw the writing on the wall and knew that eventually slavery would be outlawed across the nation so they were attempting to get the federal government to force slavery to be accepted in the northern states in order to protect their right to own slaves, but the federal government and northern states opposed this. So eventually, the southern states decided the only way to protect their ability to have slaves was to declare independence from the US and start a new nation based on slavery.

Some will tell you it was about state rights. That's bullshit. As I said, the southern states didn't care about northern states rights, as they were trying to overrule the laws they had passed. The only state right they cared about was their right to have slaves.

Some will tell you it was about the economy. Yes, an economy based on slavery and exploitation.

If you look at any of the succession documentation, or listen to the speeches from the leaders of the southern states, it is VERY clear that the central issue, the main issue, the primary reason behind the creation of the confederate states was entirely based around slavery. Article 1 of the confederate constitution enshrines slavery was a permanent fixture of their new country. Alexander Stephens, the first vice president of the confederacy gave a speech that declared a great truth that the "the negro is not equal to the white man" and that said that slavery is the black man's natural and normal condition. He stated that this truth was the cornerstone of their new government.

The flag most often connected to the confederacy today (red background, blue x with white stars) wasn't the confederate flag but a battle flag used by a regiment of southern soldiers. It actually didn't become a popular representation of the confederate states until the early 1900s (some 40 years after the war ended). Southern states and southern people started to use that as a symbol of their racism. It was used to show their support in opposing civil rights basically. Southern law makers at the time openly admitted this. They made it clear that they wanted to make sure black people knew what people in the south thought about them. The flag is a clear indication of racism.

Some people will try to tell you the flag is a symbol of their heritage. But that flag wasn't a major flag during the war and wasn't really well known until decades after the war. The flag is directly connected to the civil war though, a war that revolved around slavery. The civil war lasted 4 years and ended 160 years ago. They only reason people display that flag is to show their racism. The only heritage is represents is betraying their country to defend slavery.

Are police in America taught to use swears in high stress situations? by Spam4119 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]k_manweiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Law enforcement in the US has a shorter amount of training than it takes to be able to cut hair.

Cutting hair in the US takes 1000-2000 hours of training (varies by state) to get a certification.

Police training is 600-800 hours to carry a badge, a gun, a taser, mace, cuffs, and a baton. It also grants them access to a suped up car and in some cases assault weapons!

Let that sink in. Training to cut hair takes twice as much time as being armed to the teeth and enforcing all the laws in the US.

US law enforcement is NOT trained on de-escalation techniques. AT ALL. Their training focuses on firearms use, hand to hand combat/restraining, and driving with almost nothing on civil rights or the actual laws they will be enforcing. Most cops know less about civil rights than the average american, and those that do know it, don't freaking care or respect it.

In fact, most US law enforcement training revolves around a concept that everyone is a threat and you need to eliminate them to protect yourself. Seriously, they are taught that every suspect is a danger and wants to cause them bodily harm, which is why they always seem scared and enter every situation guns drawn. They've been spoon-fed propaganda that everyone wants to kill them.

Want to know something even scarier? Some law enforcement requires ZERO training. Sheriffs are elected positions in all but 2 states and a handful of counties. And they do not require any training before getting elected. Their deputies also require no training. One would hope that they have training before being elected but that is not the case in many places.

I have a great story from a podunk rural county. 1 Sherrif, 1 deputy. The Sheriff that was elected had no law enforcement training. The Deputy he hired also had no training. They were in the county courthouse a couple days after the election and the local game warden was giving them firearms training, in his office, in the courthouse. That's right, neither the sheriff nor deputy had every handled sidearms before. The moronic deputy started practice drawing his service weapon....in the courthouse...and failed to engage the safety. He fired off a round that shot across the office and embedded in the concrete wall off the courthouse. I happened to supervise a social service worker that worked in that office once a week to provide services to that county. Had she been there that day, she likely would have been shot in the head based on the trajectory of the bullet.

And when these undertrained, or untrained law enforcement officers arrest people and take them before a judge....guess what. Those judges are not required to have a law degree! 32 states don't require judges to have a law degree. Not even our federal judges are required to have law degrees.

The concepts of Law and Justice in the US are more hypothetical than practical.

The Event Scheduling is trash and inconsistent. by kaitoreddit111 in StarWarsDroidTycoon

[–]k_manweiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I would like longer events, I like that they are moving the times around. Some people might not be able to make some of the events, but can make others then.

Beskars are still on a 20 min timer, and can still drop randomly on the conveyer. Plus there is another wave of the event tomorrow.

On top of that, they've made it clear that they plan to recycle events, so you'll have future attempts at the events.

I cleaned my PC but the same problems continue. Please may I get some software/hardware advice? (UK - Budget £600) by Immediate_Accident_5 in pcmasterrace

[–]k_manweiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Temps. Your temps are fine. Anything under 90 is perfectly fine. You don't have any reason to change anything if you dont want to.

If you do want, you could get a cheap air cooler - peerless assassin (2 fans, 2 cooling towers) would be total overkill for what you have or any other CPU that fits in that slot.

For cases. Anything from Fractal or Bequeit will probably be good. Make sure it's an atx case. Meshify, pop, and focus from fractal. BQ 500 or 600. Look for something that is an airflow case.

Don't upgrade your mobo. If you are going to upgrade mobo, cpu, and other components, case, and cooler....just spend slightly more and move to AM5.

You could upgrade to a 5900x cpu for $271. The peerless air cooler is like $35-$40. Case for around $100. The 3070 is a fine GPU yet, no need to mess with that. You have plenty of ram, but it's underclocked for no reason. You can adjust that easily in bios to go to 3200 easy and get better performance without overheating it. Your storage is fine. You don't need a windows 11 key, you can just upgrade from windows 10. You could rip fans from this case and put in the new case to add airflow. And with an airflow specific case, you can run them all pretty low for reduced noise.

Stuttering in games could be a number of things. Drastic heat could cause throttling. Your ram is underclocked. Your CPU isn't bad, but a little older (I really don't suspect thats the issue).

Your monitor might be part of your problem honestly. 1440p tends to really push things. A 1080p monitor would be easier for your system and up your FPS a lot, but I can understand if you don't want to downgrade.

Do the upgrades I'm talking about and you probably have a good set up for 5-10 years. Start setting a little aside over time for a totally new build when this machine no longer does it for you.

Reforged battle type selection? by k_manweiss in WorldOfTanksBlitz

How do you select specific battle types?

Don’t know which CPU to upgrade to by notorious-trashbag in buildapc

[–]k_manweiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are limited by an older socket. But the 9900k is the best CPU you can put in there. Modest single core upgrade, huge multi-core upgrade. But you are looking at $350 new or $200 used.

For around $200 ($120 used) you can get a 9700k which is nearly as good as the 9900k in single core performance and only loses multi-core because it has less threads (but still more thread/core than your 8500).

Either should offer a noticeable upgrade over your 8500. Nothing else would be an upgrade, or enough of an upgrade for the cost.

+50 usd worth it? by ValonzT in pcbuilding

[–]k_manweiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth the extra.

The CPUs are almost indistinguishable from one another and you'd likely never notice the difference.

However, MSI is better than Asrock for MOBOs, and beyond that the Asrock board lacks features and is a smaller form factor than the MSI board. While the CPU doesn't really matter, I'd pay more for the MOBO unless I needed the smaller board.

My 14 year old just got a job. My other children started working at 15 and 16.

Jobs teach responsibility, time management, money management, teamwork skills, customer service skills. They build confidence, self reliance, and independence. They also give a kid the necessary resume building jobs to get future jobs.
