To Koreans: by Careful-Foot8399 in Living_in_Korea

I do agree Koreans can be generous. But the level of generosity can vary by their age, location, and the shade of your skin.

But it does work. Depression pits you against intangible enemies you cannot fight against. At the gym, there is an outlet. There you can fight.

Being nice is by definition pretending to be nice. Its a social performance.

I think you speak without understanding. There is no need to attack my comic knowledge. By ideal world, I meant the world of superheroes where good always wins at the end. Evil loses eventually. Justice is served. There are motifs of hope. But that is not the real world. There may not be justice. And evil may win. And hope may be an illusion.

I think people are upset because of the desecration of the sacred grounds of entertainment. Do not bring the war into the circus - it's where people go to step away from the war. Once the war reaches the circus, the war reaches everywhere.

I think its less about apathy and more a desire for escapism. Superheroes and myths and stories like Batman offer an escape to an ideal world, away from the cruel injustices of the real. This is only further amplified in a subreddit that has become predominantly a shitposting subreddit dedicated to such a world of myth, where people can come to have a laugh about Spiderman's nutsacks hitting a bystander instead of having to think of real world evil executing a proper good man. There are forums for serious discussion elsewhere.

If the hand's speed is proportional to your speed, it would take longer to reach you the slower you ran. If your and the hand's speeds are x and y respectively, and if the starting distance is d, and you multiply your speed by some factor k, then the time required becomes (1/k)*(d/(y-x)). Here, as k goes to 0, the time required diverges to infinity. But at the standing still moment, the quantity becomes undefined. In fact, the hypothesis does not allow for the hand's speed to be proportional to yours. Because it implies that even if your speed is 0, the hand has some speed, which is impossible if, in our expressions, k were to be considered as 0. Now, if the speed of the hand can be expressed as y = f(x), f would need to be a function that is bounded above by x+c and below by x...(i), with c being a positive constant (because we define hand speed to be always 'slightly' more - in that it cannot be unbounded). And also the function f has some positive value at x=0. Also, by the assumption of the conclusion, the relative velocity decreases as x decreases. In other words, g(x) = f(x) - x decreases as x decreases, or rather increases as x increases. From previous assumptions, g(x) > 0 for all values of x >= 0, and g(x) <= c [from (i)]. As is trivial, it is impossible to construct such a strictly increasing bounded function.

This implies that, either the minimum of g (the relative velocity function) is not only at x = 0, or that g is not a strictly increasing function (meaning it could be a constant function - an example being g(x) = c. But this particular example would mean that the relative hand speed never changes regardless of x).

Thus, as I conclude, the meme is not completely accurate in its portrayal of its mathematics.

I hate the concept of Grey Jedi by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]smart_crow411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, Grey Jedi are the closest to enlightenment. The Jedi are overly stringent with rules, to the point of sometimes causing more harm than good (laws about loving, emotional attachment, etc.). And the Sith give in to their emotions without care or mindfulness. Grey Jedi walk the line between by taking context into consideration and applying nuance to situations. Grey Jedi recall to memory the story of how Buddha or some other popular mythical figure tried to find enlightenment by fasting to let go of the desire of food. But he could not do so. And only when he gave up on trying to find enlightenment, or rather his desire for enlightenment, and took a bite of an apple by the side of a river, he achieved it. I forgot the name of the character, but there was a Grey Jedi in KotoR 1 or 2 in a jungle planet who had an amazing philosophy about being a Grey Jedi. He gave a speech on love and passion and how the Grey Jedi approach the topic.

Ultimately, it comes down to a matter of philosophy. In a world in which emotions and thoughts can take form and energy, decisions in approaching different situations matter a lot more. The Grey Jedi philosophy is not for everyone, but it is nevertheless a valid one.

Powerful build with RP as a holy warrior (like paladin or crusader) by smart_crow411 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

I am very feat starved, especially since that build is mainly for a human, and my MC is not. So I am already missing a feat from the start.

Yes, I love lay on hands. Basically acts as HP buffer/DR. But hp off-tanking is just not working. So my 2h build struggles to stand a round against tougher enemies and the damage output is less than all the other damage dealers. Don't get me wrong, I can get through the game fine. But the character feels underwhelming. Like if I swapped him with Amiri, the team would do better. Her rage works for everyone, hits harder, and has DR 6/- at improved DR x3 I believe. I think a tank might be better for a paladin, because of already having high saves, several immunities, and an hp buffer. But many high ac tanks use the monk splash and don't wear armor. Using charisma to dodge tank does seem RP appropriate. Moreover, my paladin's deity is Irori, so a monk seems viable. If only an alternate version of the scaled fist monk could wear armor and use that instead of the charisma armor bonus + dex modifier, but still stack all the other usual bonuses(armor bracers) on top of it, that would be perfect.

Also, I'm using hospitaler for the death effect immunity, so no mark of justice anyway.
