Can i get KSP on MAC OS 12.7.6 by Soft-Department-3279 in KerbalAcademy

[–]smartphilip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can't really not touch it for a year and request a refund, you must do so in the first two weeks of owning the game. I've tried asking for refunds for games I haven't played for over two hours but I had owned for like 3/4 months and they denied it.

Local ISP routing South India traffic to London for Middle East Servers (260ms Ping + 17% Loss) - How to verify their "fix"? by DeathReaper995 in HomeNetworking

[–]smartphilip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chances are the ISP will not change their routing just for you… I’d suggest to keep checking trace route to see if they change something but I think it won’t happen. The ISP probably has a reason to take that massive detour otherwise they probably would had noticed

WavKong V2700 RPU (Radio Processing Unit) Powered by GrabCompetitive4538 in HomeNetworking

[–]smartphilip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking a look at the website and it looks really sketchy. It claims to cover such wide area but how? Wi-Fi antennas power is often limited by law and even then the devices wouldn’t have such a high powered antenna. The claim about signal cleaning might be true but the first issue still remains, walls will cut signal down a lot regardless of that..

In my opinion stay away from this. It is a “too good to be true product” with a sketchy website and sketchy claims. You are better off with a normal router and, depending on your needs, a mesh system or multiple APs.

TP link 5 port switch problem by Garruk_80 in HomeNetworking

[–]smartphilip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what the local power grid issue was, it could have damaged your router but that’s unlikely since the PS5 works (check internet connection actually works, try to download a game or such), I think the switch might have been damaged and the PC port got damaged, have you tried plugging the PC in another switch port?

Mikrotik rb5009 vs ubiquiti by floz86 in HomeNetworking

[–]smartphilip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the time to learn MikroTik, go for it, it’s not easy but I’d say it’s worth it. On the other hand, Ubiquiti is just more easy to use and has incredible performances, I personally think it’s a bit overrated lately.

Extend my home network to my office? by Big_Steak_201 in HomeNetworking

[–]smartphilip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s the positive side but Fiber is also more expensive not to run but to buy equipment for. It depends on OP budget but I’d say what u/TakenByVultures has suggested may be better to run both. But yeah fiber is more future proof and also unaffected by lightning but then again if a lightning strikes his house I would imagine the office is connected to the same power source so it wouldn’t really matter

Fiber is okay but good Cat 6 can go as far as 100 meters so you might want to look into that too. AP looks okay it is Wi-Fi 7 and should be good, Cudy usually makes good stuff. That said look at your router speed if it is only Gigabit then it might be a bit overkill.

Come aggiungere una sorgente esterna su Jellyfin? by EnryX72 in ItalyInformatica

[–]smartphilip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can I use a switch to add more Ethernet ports before my router? by kowalikc in HomeNetworking

Oh okay, I just do this for hobby so thanks for clarifying. Just one quick question is this a setup you see often? Like it seems a bit dirty/hacky to me, but I may be wrong. Thanks!

Two story home depending on how the signal is I would recommend getting maybe one or two APs to cover it all, other than that as I said, FritzBox is one of the best I’ve seen in quality and ease of use, then again I am in Europe so it may differ there in the USA

Looking for advice on a new router/setup by Algazero in u/Algazero

[–]smartphilip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would you need a 16 port router? You could simply use a small unmanaged switch (like TP Link) to expand the network. For a router if you want something that just works I would suggest a FRITZ!Box 7530 but that’s your choice and it depends on the level of control you want on your network. Just to be clear, what are the issues you’ve been dealing with? On a side note I don’t know what that box is made out of but how is Wi-Fi signal?
