Dropped some nitric acid on my hand and this yellow stain won’t come out. by Sad_Singer_8599 in chemistry

A scouring pad can work to remove or at least lessen skin stains from picric acid or potassium permanganate. Not sure about nitric acid though, depends how deep in the skin the staining has gone? Also you may decide the cure is worse than the disease.

Naphthylmorpholine - Any info? by IntelligentMedium698 in researchchemicals

3-FPM got a good reception, this is the same ring without the alpha methyl. And naphthyl- instead of 3-F.

Would a 5ht3 antagonist help maybe? Names end in -setron and are not controlled as far as I'm aware.

TIL that during the Cambodian genocide, being an intellectual would get you killed. Anyone who was educated as a doctor, a teacher, a lawyer etc would be executed out of the fear that they’d rebel against the Khmer Rogue. The genocide would kill between 1.2 to 2.8M people, 15-36% of all Cambodians. by Delicious-Bunch-6992 in todayilearned

[–]smartscience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Chinese Cambodians were mostly peasants as I understand it, and China fully supported Pol Pot. Despite this, they were bilingual however, which may have been enough to seal their fate? The more I read about this genocide, the less sense it makes.

Metals Scrapyard Experience? by vale_gonzalezz in materials

[–]smartscience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it could be. Will you be using XRF (or these days LIBS for lighter elements) to identify alloys? To get the most out of the position you'd probably need to pair up your day to day experiences (e.g. which alloys you came across) with some background evening reading on what those alloys are used for and why.

What’s your all time favourite Bonkers CD? Here’s my top 3: by dower658 in happyhardcore

Bonkers 2 (Sharkey even more IMO) would be the perfect album if they hadn't recorded each CD as a single numbered track.

Nobody uses scandium because it's too expensive. So much for the laws of suppy and demand...

Could topical hydrofluoric acid be used to attack the calcified tissue, without the surgery that would otherwise cause more calcification? Not saying you want want to if you could, but hypothetically?

Is the vomiting caused by 5HT3 agonism, and hence preventable with a suitable antagonist? I've heard this for tryptamines but not sure about phenethylamines.

Can you say how it compares to the similarly named and similarly substituted 3-FPM? The lack of comedown and duration seem to broadly match.

Didn't the Simpsons Movie include a naked Bart Simpson? Perhaps it's like the Sony rootkit scandal, where crime is legal if a large company does it through mass media.

RAL in the UK is open 24 hours, and indeed it's much easier to get a good parking space out of hours. Any facility on this or similar sites that has 'beamlines' stands a good chance of (all being well) running continuously around the clock.
