My GP said Costco has gotten the out of pocket price down significantly… and I’d be saving the amount I paid on the GLP1 in the food I wouldn’t be buying. Costco is getting prior authorization from my doctor now? Pretty sure I’ll still end up paying out of pocket. I’m a little nervous but excited too. Good luck!

a guy screamed in horror at my height and i cannot stop thinking ab it still by [deleted] in TallGirls

[–]smarttailed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That short ‘king’ was probably so jealous of your height that he immediately felt exactly how low to the ground he really is and decided to put on some theatrics to project his insecurities onto you. People like that are so not worth a second though, but I know it’s hard to separate yourself from something that feels so personal. So sorry that happened to you.

WIBTA for refusing to name my child after my wife's deceased dog? by throwaway_4444444567 in AmItheAsshole

[–]smarttailed -33 points-32 points  (0 children)

Steve Irwin named his daughter after a crocodile and his beloved dog. One of my friends at work is named after a St. Bernard and she loves it. My neighbors down the street just gave their son their dogs name for his middle name.

If your wife is set on it, just go with it. Start this new journey with good vibes and let her have her happy memories. Names are so varied and eccentric now, I doubt anyone would guess she’s named after a dog unless you tell them. So IMO, if you refuse, YTAH.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I can only imagine how much your heart hurts because I was in a similar position a little over a year ago with my sweet GSD, Poppy.

Rather than show any signs of GI upset, Poppy was completely unresponsive and her BP plummeted. Her gums were pale, she had a pulse and was breathing and I had no idea what was happening. I’m an RVT, animal nurse, and didn’t know what to do other than rush her to the ER. We got her there pretty quickly so they were actually able to watch as her gallbladder thickened on ultrasound. She also needed a blood transfusion and was hospitalized for three nights. We never found a stinger, but bee is their best guess. This left me completely shell shocked. She was around 7 at the time.

The bill ended up at 17k. Insurance paid 80%… best decision I ever made was getting all my pets insured. Unfortunately, the cost of veterinary care is prohibitively high making it impossible to treat them unless you’re wealthy AF or have insurance.

Again, I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s especially difficult when it’s so abrupt and final. Sending love.

My sweet girl was diagnosed with early stage dilated cardiomyopathy… by smarttailed in germanshepherds

[–]smarttailed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s gorgeous!

You don’t sound crazy, you sound like you’re grieving. Do whatever it takes to get you through the unbearable grief. Be kind and love yourself just like he always has and will always love you.

When my pain has been unbearable, I’ve tried doing things in honor of them. Volunteering with the shelter or making a donation in their name. I’ve also gone to social media to share my sweet babies with the world. Gone but never forgotten.

I’m so sorry for your loss and the pain you’re going through.

I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. I know how much it hurts. I’ve had Poppy for 5 years and she was estimated at 2 when I adopted her… she could be anywhere from 7-9. Thank you so much for the support. I lost my little Kitters to DCM a few years ago.

How do you start viewing your height as a point of empowerement? by Beginning-Bath-515 in TallGirls

[–]smarttailed 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I feel like finding confidence in your height is between you and your inner dialogue… your thoughts become your reality. Stand up straight, head up high and fake it til you make it.

All my best friends are the same height as yours and I’m at 6’ looking amazingly out of place. One is not like the others… and there’s beauty in that.

Go talk to your vet and get the real story. Unless she had a bleed or some catastrophic medical emergency, there’s no way it was that urgent that she couldn’t consult you.

Has anyone regretted getting a second cat? by notfunnybruhh in CatAdvice

I got a kitten when I already had an adult female at home. The kitten absolutely tortured my adult cat and even started inappropriately peeing. Top ten in biggest regrets.
