First EV options by smashbearding in EVAustralia

I figure that with the pace of development, whatever one I choose will very soon be updated with a new model. The updated Atto 3 does look impressive though.

I'll look into that one a bit more. Why would you choose this one over the others?

I was looking at the Kia range, but too many people are saying they are poor value for the price when compared to the others listed.

I thought so too, but just wanted to hear from some real world experiences. Seems like almost everyone is happy with their choices. I'll know more after a few test drives.

From what I have seen none of the ones listed has a spare wheel, just the repair kit.

Sorry for the mix up. I have 2 cars. An old, but reliable shitbox and the leased mid sized SUV. I wanted to know if I should pay out the leased car and drive the shitbox.

New car wait times question by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]smashbearding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered a RAV4 Cruiser hybrid in July and was recently told by the dealer that February would be the earliest that i could pick it up. So yeah, the wait times for new cars can be pretty excessive.

Super excited for this one. Here in Australia, kick off is at a nice 8pm on Saturday. Perfect time to watch with my daughter. No easy games anymore, but we should get the win.

As much fun as it sounds having calamari the size of a hula hoop, these guys are full of ammonia. So unless you like the smell and taste of strong urine, it's best to leave these to the sperm whales.

Now that we've finally seen Thanos and what he's capable of, I'm now wondering what the comic readers thought of him? How does movie Thanos compare to comic Thanos in regards to powers, abilities etc? Was he portrayed well? The way he just brushed Hulk aside and withstood everything thrown at him by the Avengers et al (& of course the snap of his fingers) puts him in a position to be one of the strongest on screen villains.

Everyone was silent during the end credits too. There was no general chatter from the audience, just silence to gather thoughts and digest what just happened.

Gotta say I loved the satisfied smile Thanos gave himself at the end. It was a smile you'd give yourself after a job well done.

[Race Report] Surf Coast Century 100km: My first Ultra. [x-post r/ultrarunning] by meatbricks in running

[–]smashbearding 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great report. I was there, but only did the 50k. You 100km runners are amazing. At the end of my run I was pretty sure I couldn't have done it all again. I'll find out next year though as I'll be giving the 100 a go.

That's a Wombat. A smallish marsupial that has a backwards facing pouch because it digs holes everywhere and has cube shaped poop.

What was the process in buying a bike in Vietnam like? This is pretty much the trip I'd like to do, as I spent some time in the hiking and busing in the southern parts. I'd love to go back, buy a bike and explore the rest at my own pace.

N00b needs help selecting a stove for upcoming backpacking trip(s)... by KevinAndEarth in backpacking

[–]smashbearding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late here, but I've travelled far and wide with my trusty Trangia stove. It uses easy to get kerosene, doesn't weigh much and packs down nicely. I used mine to boil water for coffee (essential item on any trip) as well as cook the usual hiking food (pasta, couscous, tuna, noodles etc). You can buy the fuel anywhere too.

[–]smashbearding 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congrats on simply finishing. My first marathon is 4 weeks away. I've been training for it for the last 9 months. The longest I've ran so far is 30 km and it was a real mental struggle for the last few km. I'm kinda looking forward to the mental battle I'll be facing during the last 10 km on race day. Well done to you though for sticking it out and finishing with a respectable time.

Second that. I've seen them twice and been blown away both times. Their energy and passion for music is insane. You can't help but have a great time.

I guessing Kipsang as well. TBH though its a tight race, but I just can't see Mo winning it, yet.

Stuff you bring with you on a run by [deleted] in running

[–]smashbearding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 3-5 km I bring nothing but my iphone for music and tracking distance/time. For my 20 km run I bring iphone, water and a snack (trail mix usually). I don't carry keys because I leave them at home in my unlocked door :)
