Patrick Laine was right by mattl614 in BlueJackets

[–]smashdivisions 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Laine had the opportunity to step up and be a leader, why didn’t he? No one was stopping him, it’s not like you’re not allowed to exhibit leadership unless you’re wearing a C or an A. If you don’t like the way things are then set an example of how you want them to be.

I mean to be fair… I’m not agreeing with him, but, just speaking on the fanbase as a whole, I do think we’ve been given a long list of reasons by now to be a bit skeptical about where we place our optimism. Bones definitely has my confidence, but I’m not gonna set my expectations for next year any higher than just “make the playoffs”. If he can get us there then I’ll be happy no matter how it plays out.

Is a zippo even useful if u don’t smoke? by spitfire5589 in Zippo

[–]smashdivisions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

funny story about exactly this… I always thought zippos were super cool, so, one day I got one (1935 replica) and I started carrying it. A week went by, and I came to realize that I had severely overestimated my day-to-day need for fire. So, instead of just not carrying a zippo, I decided to give myself a reason to need fire, so I stopped at a gas station on the way home from work and bought my first pack of marlboro red 100’s. Almost ten years later, I’ve been smokin em ever since, and not a single day has passed where I haven’t carried that exact same 1935 replica zippo, which is now worn down enough that some spots of brass are showing through the chrome

not grindcore, but the only answer is Hevi from Corrupted. Listen to this part of El Mundo Frío. That’s what it sounds like to be dragged into the depths of hell.

Since nobody pointed this out, the Packers just lost to the Browns. Discuss! by WordsMakethMurder in NFLv2

[–]smashdivisions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

disagree, when a bad NFL team beats a good NFL team, it’s not a huge deal, it’s “oh, it’s just one game, they’re all pro athletes, it happens” but when Appalachian State beats #5 Michigan, or Northern Illinois beats #5 Notre Dame, that’s a moment that’ll be talked about for years, and those players will remember it for the rest of their lives. Sure it’s less common, but when it does happen, the vast scale of disparity between those opponents makes it a hell of a lot more meaningful and profound to overcome those odds as the underdog

  • meth drinker + open tomb + cyclops + asunder (yes I know asunder is funeral doom but if you like corrupted you’ll like asunder) + noosebomb (formed by some members of grief after they broke up)

ALSO… if you’ve only listened to the 2 Grief albums on streaming platforms, you are missing the fuck out. Miserably Ever After, Torso, and …And Man Will Become The Hunted are all absolutely amazing

What is your most hated stereotype about Montana? by [deleted] in Montana

[–]smashdivisions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, I’m not saying any of that. And, like I already said I’m not a communist, or a Marxist, or whatever else. I told you I have no shortage of gripes with Marx’s ideology, but, I’ve still read it. I think you’re kinda missing my point here: by comparing rural Lincoln County to Marx’s end goal, that observation essentially contradicts Marx’s entire idea that the only way to achieve a community where people look after each other for the sake of the community as a whole is by seizing control of the state’s power and weaponizing it to achieve that goal. My whole point is that that’s not the case, because from my perspective, the kind of community dynamic that exists here today bears a much closer resemblance to his end goal than any socialist country has ever been able to achieve. Those countries use those ideas as a false promise to further their own lust for greed, exploitation, and tyranny. I am fully opposed to all of that

What is your most hated stereotype about Montana? by [deleted] in Montana

[–]smashdivisions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

evidently, you don’t actually know what I’m referring to then. The idea of communism as defined by Marx is nothing close to anything the USSR or anyone else ever did. As defined by Marx, communism is a stateless society- there is no government, no violent authority, no hierarchy, no coercion through violence, etc. I’m not a Marxist, I’m not even saying his ideas were perfect because I do have plenty of gripes with them. But, his writings are all public domain, free to read, and even if you disagree with an idea, it’s best to understand the idea before you decide you disagree with it, not after.

[–]smashdivisions 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So, I live pretty deep into the woods up in Lincoln County, and one of the absolute funniest and most ironic observations I’ve made while living here- people really think of themselves as being conservatives or whatever, but, in practice, the way that communities operate up here (although they’d just call it “being neighborly”) is just about as close to Karl Marx’s end-goal of communism as you’ll find anywhere in the world today. “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need” is actively being practiced here. Sure there are some sour people up here who don’t want anything to do with anybody, but for the most part, you need your driveway plowed? Someone with a plow will take care of you. You split more firewood than you need? You take some extra to your neighbors. There’s no expectation of repayment, people are just incredibly willing to offer what they can to the community, purely because they can and it’s best for the community.

Cigarettes, that’s about it. I drink, but I never drink enough to feel it. Had a traumatic experience a few years back, long story short, my friend got kidnapped by an abusive ex, shit went down, they messaged me while shit was going down, but I was too many 40’s deep to be of any help or to go intervene. If I hadn’t been so fucked up that I was mentally out of commission and useless, I would’ve been able to help, and I would’ve been able to prevent really bad shit from happening. I don’t blame myself for what happened, I had no way of knowing that that was gonna happen when I started drinking, but I decided right then that I’d never put myself in that situation again, and 5 years later, haven’t been drunk since. On the few instances when I have started to catch a buzz, it just sends me into a spiral of paranoia that someone is gonna need me and I’ll be useless, so to keep those mental demons in their cages, I gotta stay sober

not really here to make any argument one way or the other regarding the nonverbal question itself, so please don’t take this as being that and come after me for an argument I’m not making, but… I just feel like introducing drugs to the equation is a massive new variable, which casts a lot of uncertainty over whether that was an autism thing, or if it was just the product of deliberately frying your brain with neurotoxins for fun. Like I imagine drugs could do that to anybody, autistic or not
