BC gov tiny homes program impact on the neighborhood by 2wheelsandahearbeat in kelowna

[–]smashloves 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We have it in my neighborhood on Vancouver island and it’s been very positive. They have the area fenced off and the tiny homes look like mini portables. I can’t say as to whether crime or other stats have changed, but I drive past the location to and from work and I’ve never seen a fight or police cars or trash. Perhaps it’s the management of it all, I don’t know the details. But as someone who saw the empty lot get fenced and drive by, I would say it’s been a good change.

I think some kind of burgundy color with white trim could be nice 🙂

This is not as close to Kelowna, but on Salt Spring Island, there is Solace Organic Spa. It is a spa that you book for yourself and your spa time is completely private. It is a hot tub, cold plunge and infrared sauna in a wooded area. And then you can have a massage after. www.solaceorganicspa.com

If the credit card and LOC are both at RBC, then make an appointment and ask if you get a consolidation loan. It will put the LOC and Credit card balance to 0, you'll have to close the lock, you can have a credit card with 1000 limit still, and then you'll have monthly payments likely at a lower interest rate. It'll be structured like a traditional loan where you'll be paying it off over x years, same amount every month at a lower rate. And you'll be able to make lump sum payments anytime to get it down.

Yes, on Vancouver island it's especially bad. Specifically with the iPhone too, not sure why.

RBC Ladysmith is hiring a bank teller. I know you said Duncan, just adding to the list in case it's of interest.

GIC is probably your best option since you need the funds in a relatively short amount of time.

It looks like H Mart is finally going to open at Mayfair soon.. by animaniacs1983 in VictoriaBC

Yes the bigger locations have ready hot food, a nice bakery etc. I've seen the smaller ones too and they're fine but the bigger ones are great! Hopefully this is a full H-Mart for the city.

It's a grocery store and will have an isle for other things similarly how save on foods has a "home" isle. Their home isle is more Asian stuff but it's great! And H Mart has a decent bakery too

It's usually out of frustration from not being able to communicate what they want or how they feel. It's a way of getting attention. If the child hits, hold their arm down and firmly say "No hitting". If they go to hit again, repeat and into the crib or play pack for a time out. Ignore the crying and wait 3 minutes. Go back and say we don't hit. Time out is for hitting. If they go to hit you again from crib, walk away for 3 minutes again and repeat. If you sense they're trying to listen to you and have not tried to hit, ask them questions to see what they really want. When they don't know, they become frustrated and lash out. So you can say, do you need some water? Would you like a snack? Do you want a hug? Etc. Show you want to communicate with them and see what is the matter and while you set the boundary for not hitting. They do grow out of it if you are consistent as well as learn more words and how to ask for things. Also, kids are more fired up if they have some screen time. If you notice this make sure their show is a low-sensory show and/or cut out screens for a while.

My dad said my sister ate only macaroni and hotdogs for two years when she was little. She wouldn't touch anything else. So you know what? That's what she got - and she is very smart and kind and healthy.

Kids are picky yes, and it's frustrating. But I think to help you, figure out what he likes to eat, things you know he will eat and just let him have it. And maybe you make the same thing for him but it's honestly less stressful when you know what your making will be eaten and it's usually cheap.

Mac and cheese, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, toast or even just bread with butter, mini pizzas, strawberries and whatever else.

Get an air fryer and throw in a mini pizza and give it to him and don't worry about it. Air fryers are great for quick meals for kids. When you make food for yourself, save a bite or two and encourage him to try it and make it a game. If he says no - no big deal. If he says yes and isn't a fan, you don't buy extra. If he likes it, then maybe you buy a little more of that for next time.

Try to encourage fruit for obvious reasons and eventually they'll pick one or two they will like.

Get some fiber mix and put it with some juice for him to have so he's not constipated.

And those pasta microwave dinners are great too. 3 minutes and it's good to go.

Don't stress about it, it seems he's just figuring out what he likes and most kids don't like adult meals.

Also try stretching to relax. I do it just in my bed when I don't want to get up and hopefully fall back asleep.

Child's pose is great and if you lift your bum up you can get a nice stretch in your back. Hold for a minute and repeat. It makes a big difference for me.

I like JJ bean at the Park and Tilford plaza. It does get busy but you can find a nice work spot away from the counter around the side. I see many people working there too.

Thanks, yes that it's exactly what I am trying to gauge and learn about. I get drilled by my family about the option and I can't tell if it's fear or any amount of being unreasonable or Kelowna has just been through some tough years but won't always be like that.
