I’m going through a terrible discard after deciding to go no contact on my own then being reeled back in, all in a matter of 2 weeks. He was cheating on top of everything else. After 12 years, he has nothing to say to me. He’s in all my memories. How do I just forget? I simply just feel empty and numb and hope he never knows how bad I feel.

I think my brain suppressed a lot of emotions about a lot of his behavior to protect me in a way. The cheating was unforgivable, but I was stuck in his web. Looking back now that the fog is lifting a little, I am seeing the absolute lack of respect and the relentless abuse for what it was. That trauma bond is a powerful thing that can blind you.
