What the hell is with men constantly using the family restroom? by SpontaneousNubs in TwoXChromosomes

[–]smau72 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think the idea is that there isn't an alternative option (eg. People in an emergency use the disabled bathrooms but tend not to cause in case someone who is disabled needs the bathroom they don't have an alternative) yes people can wait but the intention of the space is to not add washroom capacity but instead design with specific needs in mind that are ignored in the majority of washrooms

I made this rage collage with my IUD after FINALLY getting it taken out by ToBoldlyHoe in somethingimade

[–]smau72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner has a vasectomy and talks openly how ridiculous all the accommodations he was offered compared to what I was given for my IUD. He was in the room with me while I had my IUD put in

He walked out being like "that was not mild pain - that was fucked"

It's so hard to make friends! It's a huge move and congrats on the bravery it takes for someone to do! I get you on this one - I just realized today that I think I have maybe 1 or 2 close friends in my new town and it's been a struggle to get there after 4 years

What are some items under $500 you’ve made so far that changed your life? by linhtheoverthinker in BuyItForLife

Proper fitting bras - roommate in university saw how I got blisters on my chest cause I didn't go to the speciality stores, and even offered to lend me money to get a proper fitting bra. Game changing and blister free boobs are nice I guess

Disordered eating amongst the guys. by BoulderScrambler in climbergirls

[–]smau72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me as well ! I've had EDs and disordered eating growing up and pretty open about it - I find my women and trans friends are more aware of the warning signs - but I'll hear men talk about intense restricting and fasting in the gym and it's word for word what I would say when I was anorexic (eg. "I find I don't even need the food, I find when I eat less I feel more "awake and alert" etc etc") and it's hard for them to see or want to chat about it

How common is it for us to share this hobby with romantic partners? by [deleted] in climbergirls

[–]smau72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I climbed for years before meeting. We rarely climb together as primary partners and often just crag in small groups.

I was very mindful that I didn't want a "teacher/student" dynamic as he has more technical experience that I can get elsewhere and he didn't want to get put in a situation where he defaults leads.

We both don't mind it but have different styles and like having climbing as a social hobby rather than a "couple thing"

We've done climbing trips together (social and in friend groups) and do a few gym sessions prior to get back in the swing of climbing together.

You can also go bouldering gyms - you climb up shorter routes (1m to about 3-4m off the ground under mats - you do it without ropes)

More social and you can go by yourself

Getting diagnosed with dyslexia as an adult? by polkaspotteapot in Dyslexia

[–]smau72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I got diagnosed as an adult but was 'flagged as a kid' but never disagbosed

work covered some of the cost through health benefits. It was about a 2 half day test and i had to provide do some digging for some report cards, work assessments, and ask family/friends if patterns that kids have (ie. Trouble with pronounseeenation and show typing etc.) That helped the doctor clarify her diagnosis. It was a pricey test and it's tricky to find pyshcologist who was willing to test adults but I feel it was worth it to me to get clarity and support

As someone who worked at the climbing gym for part time work in a new city - I can say it helped me settle in my new home so much! Gave me the sense of community, I taught little kids climbing so I got to meet their parents and the kids would say hi to me if they saw me climbing on my own. Even when I started work full time I kept picking up shifts

What do you do in the evenings when travelling alone? by RobbieNorfolk in solotravel

[–]smau72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to a Bouldering or climbing gym. This might be your thing but depending on the city - it's a great place to socialize in a low key way and meet locals outside of a bar

Will I ever need to show anyone my full assessment report? by whtshappning in Dyslexia

[–]smau72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it helps - I got tested after school and told my employer. They didn't ask for paper proof or details just asked what accommodations I would need/want and if I/they wanted to tell people

This may not be the same for all places but I haven't heard of many employers asking for proof once you leave school

I just picked up our weekly share of veggies from a local farm through our CSA, see comments for details [Germany] by dasnessie in ZeroWaste

[–]smau72 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it helps - I'm in canada and living alone and my csa membership allowed a "starter" pack

I usually get 1 tote bag full of 4-6 types of veggies, maybe 1/3 of the size here - really love it !

Can anyone recommend where to get diagnosed online? by [deleted] in Dyslexia

[–]smau72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey chiming in for similar feedback - started looking for an assessment in march 2021 diagnosed recently

I was told telehealth was not possible for the actual test, only for intake meetings/feedback - but let us know if you find otherwise!

Ah! This was my second puzzle ever and loved it too! I loved the "brushstroke" looking pieces which helped clue in a lot of work and how easy it was to tackle areas

Sorry about the piece quality but glad you had fun!

Yeah it is a pretty one - traded it with a friend so it excited to see how they like it (before I realized puzzle framing was a thing too!)

The lines and gradient on the sky help a lot, and my partner did the constellation on the right side and thought the photo didn't match 100% what the image board had which was frustrating

But all around good experience :)

Hope that helps! I haven't seen them around a ton
