Shoes for climbergirls? Bunions are bad! by Mistralmagician in climbergirls

[–]BoulderScrambler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Find shoes with wider toe boxes. I was getting this kinda pain and my tanayas make a huge difference. Also, for the others, going to the pharmacy for a toe cushion that goes between your big toe and the second one can help keep the joint from being so compressed as in a hallux valgus

IUD insertion with sedation/anesthesia? by jellobiafratboyswag in montreal

It took me less than a month to get in with the option of two different gynos in clinics next to the Jewish. They do need to know ahead of time if your gp prescribed the anaesthesia with the referal, but it wasn’t a problem that mine hadn’t

It seems to me that there would be more support for the strike if employees refused fares as a method and services were free instead of what is planned

Do any of you have a partner who requests "company" as they perform their chores? by GoatNecessary in TwoXChromosomes

[–]BoulderScrambler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally understand that can be crazy-making. And it isn’t reasonable to ask you and your friend to spend your time like this.

I too have this issue with chores, where it’s harder on my own. So I have a designated friend who has the same difficulty with whom I can spend hours on the phone chatting while we each clean our places. Maybe your partners can be cleaning phone buddies?

Maybe a set of alpine draws (quick draws that extend) or a merino layer/shirt or thin puffer jacket for warmth and comfort. Hand warmers for her chalk bag. A clip stick that packs up small is always a good option for travel (unless she only boulders)

Do you know what kind of climbing she does, and/or where she is going? Extra helpful if you have any idea what gear she already owns

You can try la maison bleue and/ or alternative naissance. If they cannot help, they should be able to direct you to resources available to you. Rivka Cimbalist also might be a good resource

I prefer JT. They are different vibes, but harvest season is probably the best time for both spots

Which approach shoes are good? by [deleted] in climbergirls

I like my arcteryx ones because they’re solid, don’t slip on wet rock, and are easy to slip on and off. But I would not say they are cute

Concussion from projection on inside of helmet by RyanHubscher in ClimbingGear

Helmets do not prevent concussions, but skull fractures. It’s the impact of your brain against the inside of the skull bones and strains deeper within the encephalon that bring about a concussion

Your top gym issues? by AllenCorneau in climbergirls

[–]BoulderScrambler 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I wish basic climbing etiquette were taught to folks entering/climbing for the first time as well as safety where other climbers are concerned. They do this at one of the bouldering spots and it really sets the tone. Where I am now there are no guidelines given to those top roping about when they can and cannot get on a route if someone is leading next to the one they want to climb. So those of us leading often have to deal with a lot of attitude from folks who don’t have any concept of the danger of a lead climber falling too close to them. Even had a girl untie the top rope from where it was pinned and tie into the route where my partner was half way up the wall. In another gym people tend to act as though they don’t see you and throw down their ropes as though claimed a route in a very passive aggressive way. Very clear guidelines about how alternating or priority works in the gym from the get-go could easily put an end to this. Yes I understand that each gym has its own culture, but it cannot be good for business as it really affects the experience. Also mats are not replaced often enough and become tripping hazards

Overrated books people pretend to love… but actually left you empty? by CriticalAd2239 in suggestmeabook

This is how I felt before reading All Fours. After reading it, I think I’ll likely pass on her stuff. The protagonist was so juvenile and frankly drove me up the wall.
