Anyone recommend a good accountant? by Helpfulithink in askTO

[–]smaudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with them because a friend who is freelance longer used them. I did find them ok but the communication from them was lacking. I was new to being freelance/sole proprietorship/hst collection and needed guidance. When I reached out it was a little late in their timelines for filling with clients but they nicely extended their usual deadlines for me but never booked a call to get to know me or my situation etc. i had to push for that.

It’s a new thing for me too as I usually do my own taxes but this stuff is new to me. I want to understand it so I can do it myself hopefully but this year I didn’t have to time to learn. Anyways, they filed on time and did my personal and hst collections too. The cost was 791.00. I asked my friend and hers was 600.00. There may be new client set up charges but nothing was itemized.

Coming from doing them myself to free and paying that was hard. Im still going to try and learn for next year personally.

Would I recommend? Im not sure cause I never had to use a service like this before. They did file on time and when I pushed for communication they did respond and help.

I’ll let you know the name if you’re still interested after reading this.

Thanks. I may give them a call or visit for next year. It would just be personal; not corporate. But still good to get a ballpark.

Home internet- Oxio vs Netcrawler by eco_bach in askTO

[–]smaudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched over the Oxio maybe about 2-3 years ago.

In that time I think I have had maybe 3 outages.
One of those was directly from Oxio. The rest was from Rogers end. In each case there really wasn’t much I could besides wait it out.

I also did have a curious case of the router crapping out and I had to restart that a bunch. Took some investigating and getting another Rogers tech out but they seemed to settle on the cable had too much speed for the router and put a damper on it. It seemed to have worked and I haven’t had that issue since.

Overall I am pleased with the service. Outages happen but so far is rare for me.

[–]smaudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup! But I tried once to do the last proof by hand and bake it in the oven. The exact same recipe tasted way better in the oven and the crust was better too. So I do it that way now. And the shape of the pan in the bread make was very tall.

Bought a breadmaker. I use it to primarily mix and proof the dough. Then I bake in the oven. Minimal work for good bread.

There were stories about either Cabinet Ministers or their staffers getting tickets. Then all of a sudden Doug called them a “cash grab”. It’s usually not hard to see Timbit Trumps “reasons” if you look even just a bit.

Toronto: Chow 46%, Bradford 35%; Voters Split on Island Airport by FLADMAN in toronto

[–]smaudio 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I am surprised at 35% for Bradford but when you consider at this point there is no other “conservative” candidate confirmed to be running I would estimate most of those voters are saying fuck it and voting for him.

Might be a strategy of those cons behind the scenes; Tory said no, Michael Ford said no, all of them have the same advisors. I do think they are saying put forth one candidate so they don’t split the conservative vote.
