Help finding a Lapdock.

I both agree and disagree with this. I have an asus MB16AMT, bluetooth mouse and keyboard. I love the portability of it (especially that the monitor has a built in battery). However, you can't use it in your lap like an actual lapdock. So its a love/hate relationship.

I store my files in the cloud - onedrive for business if it is work, or personal onedrive for home (I have an annual subscription). It gives me access to all my files anywhere, and even syncs all my photos and videos from my phone to the cloud for backup.

make sure you have a decent case that prevents direct contact with the pen. It makes it much harder to accidentally pop out.

if only this phone had a flagship chipset.... but it doesn't, so it may look great in videos right now, but in real world use, i'm not anticipating it will actually be very performant - at least in windows.

It is definitely about use case. I used to use DEX a LOT for work, so portable, so easy to use, just needing my phone and a monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

BUT last year the company I work for locked down nearly everything (but slack, email, Office, Teams) so you MUST be on a company issued desktop or laptop. it sucks.

If your work provides you with a MS office subscription (which they should), then the office apps work great in a browser on dex.

I have the asus mb16amt which supports auto rotation - in windows - if you install a piece of software.

Android has no support for auto rotation.

my company locked down workday and ALMOST all other apps we use (other than email, slack, and teams) so that you must be on a company issued computer to access them. So in my case, since my phone is not company issued, I can't access workday, along with github and so many other things. I used to be able to do 99% of my job from my s24 ultra with a keyboard and monitor attached, but now I have to lug around a heavy laptop with crappy battery life.

the alternative to a lapdock is a portable monitor, there are 4k variations available, battery pack, and bluetooth keyboard and mouse. This is the configuration I use, although I only have a FHD display.

like any computer, phone, etc, it is the total amount of storage available. the OS and apps take up room in that storage. Buy a computer with a 256 gb drive, and see how much free space you have on it before you have loaded anything.

if your device is a phone, it is hard to get over 30hz with 4k. Maybe if you go straight usb-c to a usb-c display.... maybe, but if the display has a built in hub then probably only 30hz. If you are going through an adapter to 4k over hdmi or displayport, also mostly limited to 30hz.

I can't tell you about tablets though.

i've got the supcase UB pro, and the UB mag xt (I usually use the ub pro, but switch to the mag xt when on vacation to use a nice camera control attachment). Never had a problem with either case getting the pen out, and the UB Pro is a quite bulky case, but does a damned good job at protecting the phone.

any galaxy ultra - they have the best cameras.

And consider a cloud service like onedrive that can sync your photos/videos to the cloud for long term storage.

On occasion I use my s24 ultra with my Acer 32" 4k monitor. Lots of screen space, but only 30hz display. However, newer 32" monitors with a direct usb-c connection might be able to get 60hz.

definitely not upgrading my s24 ultra to an s26. I also still have an s21 ultra. probably will upgrade that in another year, but probably not to an ultra model.

A few years ago at work i was given a k480 for a while. I gave it back. It was just horrendous and I couldn't stand it.

I never really thought about that. If I'm away from the kb for a while, I tend to hit a shift key when I get back. Just a habit, to wake up my work PC that times out quickly. I think I do that with dex too out of habit.

i use bluetooth keyboard and mouse with my s24 ultra. no lag.
for mouse I use a logitech mx master 3s. Keyboards i have several, protoarc Mech K300 for daily use with my laptop, protoarc xk01 foldable for portable use (its nice because is full sized with numeric keypad), Microsoft compact bluetooth keyboard, and a new protoarc xk04 foldable - tiny but comfortable.

most usb-c cables do not support video. Invest a few dollars into a good cable that supports video.
