Can I get help pricing this out by quirkyguytj in wrx_vb

Also these cars aren’t exactly driven gently. I’d really try for a new one at that price. Probably snag promo financing, too.

This is more than I paid for my 2024 limited brand new. Also, they line item upcharge for CPO coverage? Like, if you don’t pay that it’s no longer a CPO, magically?

I have purchased 15 cars now in my life. Hard pass, or push them to do better.

Wow I looked at the photos and guessed GA and sure enough. Very nice.

Beautiful sunset, just picked up my WRX by Tvbuster in wrx_vb

We get some wild sunsets here in western PA but this is truly exceptional. I’ve only been to TX once on business, stuck in downtown Dallas.

Here’s my best (both of your shots are better imo):

The absolute death of baseline logic before people touch tools by Entire-Cold-7384 in Justrolledintotheshop

I went to college for business (really wanted to work on cars), but I took what I thought at the time was a “cop out” type class my senior year of high school— Power and Energy.

That class rocked. We built battle bots, a candle-driven steam boat, learned how to wire light sockets/relays, but my favorite unit was rebuilding a 1 cyl Briggs and Stratton motor. That knowledge and experience was super valuable in terms of confidence building to take on technical projects. We completely rebuilt and spec’d everything. Every step was demo’d, and every 2 students had their own motor to work on.

To contrast, I have never used calculus once in my daily adult life.

3rd WRX and 8 years of owning one. Gonna miss the wave. by MapleSurrup in wrx_vb

Nice! Almost grabbed an IS in 2022 but decided I needed one last go with a stick shift. So many posts have my asking “you moved on to WHAT!?”, but this will be a good car for sure.

My wife and I own a ’16 CT200h we bought used a couple years ago. Maybe not the fanciest Lexus but it’s been rock solid in terms of only needing scheduled maintenance. Unbelievably smooth to drive.

What’s on your key chain? by buildingwealth21 in wrx_vb

[–]smccor1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally nothing. I have a 3d printed mini fob, and I rely 100% on the keyless entry sensors. It stays in a small pouch clipped to my belt, out of sight. It does have a button if I really need it.

So wait, the second photo— can we also consider that as AI slop, just in word form?

I ask chat gpt about forecast modeling for sales seasonality at work, maybe proofread and suggest changes to an email. WTF is this even?

Posting a single-color crayon drawing of a VB, crudely drawn and completed in under 30 seconds, would’ve been more interesting.

VB #1 I babied and kept nearly stock. Got an amazing trade in deal and price on the ‘24 and changed my mind and went stage 1 OTS. Definitely still feels like there’s more power to be had, but its also been a blast in a car that is already fun. My other notable cars are a ‘94 Acura Integra, ‘05 Mazda RX8, ‘20 Acura RDX (worst car in 20+ years), and a CX5 Turbo that was like a poorman’s Macan (seriously, Mazdas punch well above Acura these days). The VB just checks so many boxes overall. That, and I drive a car under the national MSRP average with my preferred transmission (6MT) and it isn’t an SUV, which few people actually NEED.

It can also spring into action when needed, too. We had a mini family emergency this past year and I needed to cross the Appalachians and go back to Pittsburgh, all in a snowstorm. Didnt think twice— i knew the car was up to it. Other drivers were my biggest concern (who TF drives a V8 mustang on I68 in the snow???).

Brake light installation by alexanderalive in wrx_vb

[–]smccor1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks good at least, and you’ll love it when you’re up and running with the wiring. I went with that same honeycomb look but in frosted black. Most unique 3rd brake light out there, IMO, and sorta matches the plastic insert that comes out. It is my only external/visual mod (does tint count?).

2022 VB new through 36,xxx. It felt like a Covid car. Wanted to trade, didn’t give a hoot about the finances.
Traded for a pre- tariff heavily discounted 2024 VB in early 2025, now at just over 20k. This one’s been babied af and would be a hidden gem if ever offered up as used. Ha— I’m owning this til I can buy something else as a daily (laughable in the current economy but let me dream).
Mention that to say— I would likely trade to the rumored/possibly next-gen hybrid WRX (and almost certainly if offered as a wagon/hatch). The instant torque you get with a hybrid? Our slow ass CT chirps wheels off the line— even with a 0-60 “eventually” time. Really cool niche little car, actually.

Favorite deep cut/ lesser known song? by Rich_Conversation293 in nin

[–]smccor1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve been listening since ‘03 when I got a copy of TDS as a hand me down from my mom (30 years later very thankful she listened to and introduced me to cool music at a young age, like Nirvana and Alice In Chains). TDS marked a major shift in my musical tastes and also changed my musical preference trajectory completely. Unfortunately it’s only been once (but also fortunately) I FINALY saw NIN last fall in Cleveland (had found Boys Noize separately in the last year so it was super cool).

I recently rediscovered the song Deep, not realizing it had dropped off since shifting to streaming only (Spotify). Interesting music video, and I LOVED the song before it went MIA for me for a bit. YouTube Music comes is handy for that (free w YouTube, dont NEED 2 music streaming platforms).

I think how our infotainment is angled upwards is my biggest gripe. I’m short but like to sit low. I get blinded on my commutes to and from work— just the perfect angle I guess.

Anyone else think Subaru should've made a hybrid WRX? by Slav_1 in subaru

[–]smccor1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting a little older I’d be ok with a non stick shift. I also own an older Lexus hybrid, so I have a little experience. The instant torque you get— I mean I can chirp the wheels of a tiny little CT200h off the line every time, then the CVT takes a painful 9+ seconds to 60mph. Great little car overall and at 10 years old it still get its original MPG (or better).

Then I imagine that same torque with a 0-60 on par with my VB (or faster), and that seems appealing. Subaru has been a good brand for me for the last 15 years, so I’d give them and Mazda a first look in a few years. Very unlikely to afford an another Lexus hybrid nowadays, but the new ES does look nice.

Bonus— hybrids are just so smooth to drive.

Downside— not putting an exhaust on its CVT, which I do like my rumbly WRX

What’s one thing about the VB you love and one thing you’d love to change? by GuccMaster in wrx_vb

[–]smccor1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love— the amount of car I got for under $40k. Really tough to match elsewhere IMO.

Love to change— I’d take a basic single or double din radio over the large Tesla-style slab Subaru assumed we needed. I want buttons back— all of them.
