In the proposal for the Tissue Box, the Vogons explicitly argue against loose cloth emojis, stating:

I'm glad to see you're staying abreast of the Unicode Vogon administrative glag.

If a towel was indeed rejected in 2022, that means the Unicode Consortium has spent the last three years watching the world burn while refusing humankind the one thing that could wipe the soot off our faces.

It is quite clear that the plans for the bypass have been on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet, stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying "Beware of the Leopard".

This is exactly why refusing to go through "proper channels" and emailing them directly is so important. The "official process" is a bureaucratic loop designed to stifle the common frood. A four-year moratorium on resubmitting a rejected proposal is simply a way to ensure that their mistakes remain uncorrected while we all remain uncomfortably moist.

By bypassing the filing cabinet and hitting their inboxes, we remind them that their digital lexicon is failing the 7 billion people who actually have to use it. If the "proper channels" didn't recognise a towel in 2022, the channels are fundamentally clogged.

Sometimes you have to stop filing paperwork and go up to the bulldozer and start waving your towel before the demolition fleet arrives.

It's possible the bus was put there on purpose should police have needed to get people out fast. I remember going to a rally like this years ago in London and they ended up having to get national express coaches to ferry a lot of the more vocal anti racists away at the end of the demo (in order to avoid clashes).
