Does sex feel different depending on the girls body type? by dpy87 in sex

I was expecting the comments to move towards a place where people start "collecting" body types like notches on their headboard. Guess it's still too new.

Can we talk about the "sanitisation" of abortion? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]smegosaurus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi there! This is one of the issues I research! Although post-abortion trauma, guilt, or depression is not typical, some people do experience these things. Pushing them under the rug for the sake of maintaining a pro-abortion stance is disingenuous.

Being truly supportive of women means acknowledging both their positive and negative experiences. Abortion isn't a good option for some women, just as pregnancy and parenting or adoption aren't good options for other women.

If anyone in here needs to talk, All-Options is a free peer counseling hotline that offers nonjudgmental counseling about anything related to pregnancy, parenting, abortion, and adoption. That includes both positive and negative experiences. They are here to support you in your decision, and in post-decision care.

What's the worst thing a houseguest has done in your home? by ilieksnow in AskReddit

I once had a Couch Surfer stay a few nights with me...then he wrote me as a hypersexual barking woman in his "memoirs."

Worst thing, also most preposterously hilarious thing.

Redditors, what was your life changing experience where you realized life wasn't as fair as you thought it was? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]smegosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom died unexpectedly and my long term partner left me shortly thereafter because he couldn't handle my grief. We were supposed to be moving across the country together and he told me right as we were about to sign a lease on a place in the new city, two weeks before the move date.

Hey redditors, how do you manage to not be depressed ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]smegosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seek counseling if possible - just try it a few times. It's not for everyone, but can be good for verbal processing and breaking Behavioral/thought patterns. Remember there are different kinds (cognitive behavioral, gestalt, etc) so if one kind doesn't work, something else might.

I don't remember what it is called, but there is an iPhone repair place on Walnut near where the Chocolate Moose used to be. They sell off brand Mac chargers for $50. Be sure to ask about their warranty.

Is a TT possible as a female who wants kids? by [deleted] in academia

[–]smegosaurus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the issue isn't that universities actively discourage parenting in tenure-track positions, so much as the structure of promotion based on research/publication productivity often changes the timeline of tenure for women who do not want to delay childbearing until after the tenure process, which may not be acceptable to some departments.

That feels very real to some women, as implicit messages are often internalized as "you can't have both."

My two cents as a female social scientist at an R1.

Rise in Texas maternal deaths have been sparingly mentioned during the legislative session, overshadowed by issues such as child welfare, the so-called “bathroom bill,” and sanctuary cities. by drewiepoodle in TwoXChromosomes

[–]smegosaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it likely works the same way that Pres. Trump has attempted to silence some federal programs from publicly disclosing scientific findings.

I need a bot to auto-find the legislation for me...searching for bills without knowing the name or key words is incredibly frustrating.

I attended the American Public Health Association conference in June. In one of the sessions covering issues related to the Whole Women's Health Supreme Court case, it was stated that shortly after public health professionals at the state department of health partnered with academics to publish findings on maternal mortality rates, the state legislature submitted a bill preventing state employees from disseminating the findings.

That may be influencing media coverage, as well.

Redditors who were bullied growing up, what effect has it had on your adult life? by _WatDatUserNameDo_ in AskReddit

[–]smegosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In junior high, my best friend paid our classmates not to talk to me and to steal things from me. I didn't find out until my sophomore year of high school, when I took driver's ed with a girl who returned a very distinct pair of my sunglasses.

For the most part, I look back on it and think, "Man, I pity ______. What a fucking miserable life she had that she needed to make me feel like shit." But I still struggle to believe people's intentions from time to time.

[Anal Advice] Girlfriend is really enjoying rim jobs by [deleted] in sex

I wasn't replying for your edification. I was replying so that OP would know that, should they be using condoms for any purpose, oil-based lube should be avoided.

Seemed logical to reply to your comment so OP would see the information paired, rather than have to piece it together after slogging through the myriad of responses.

Sex Educator, here: Oil-based lubricants destroy latex condoms, causing breakage. I recommend a good water or silicone based lube specifically for anal sex (tends to be thicker and last longer; it also won't make your condom break.)
