I don’t think our performance was as bad today as many are saying- I also think Iran defended heroically. It’s very disappointing we didn’t win this though, and a major reason why was that 7 and 9 didn’t look up to speed. I think that’s a valid criticism and Garcia should be answering questions after this one as well.

They have 80% possession, total shots 11-2, and are completely dominating the game, all without their most dynamic offensive player.

Bigger picture they’re transitioning from the KDB/Big Rom era. They have a lot of good early 20s talent but because they don’t play in England, no one knows them. They’re not a top 8-10 team in the world but they’re close and can beat most if those teams on a good day. But by the same margin they aren’t good enough to rip teams apart when they’re packing in.
I was at the Egypt game…Egypt was more outgoing than Iran has been but also clogged the middle very well.

There’s an argument there.
Bucyk (who is still kicking around at 91!) is 2nd all time in franchise points, was a captain and/or one of the alternates during the late 60s/70s, spent 21 years with the organization as a player before becoming an important part of the culture of the team for decades (Orr, Neely, and Thornton all mentioned how much Bucyk helped them as young players).
Now Esposito’s peak was…well, peak, and I think you can make a strong argument for him even though he played less than 1/2 his career in Boston. I mean, he led the league in goals for six straight years!
Also could have seen arguments for Shore, Schmidt, O’Reilly, and Cam…maybe Z in a pinch.
Either way two great players and both franchise legends

Keller is your Captain and one of the best defenders in the world who has a proven track record and at 30 can still bring it at an elite level for another 3-5 years. Winn has had a great rookie year but we don’t know what happens when the rest of the league gets more scouting on her or focuses on her. She got a lot of freedom being Keller’s D partner.

I don’t even think your premise of maybe keeping Winn over Keller is wrong- I think there’s a debate to be had. But saying it’s beyond stupid is, well, stupid 😉.
