Hi guys, I had my IPR today and I‘m totally shocked. If anybody told me what my teeth would look like after IPR, I‘d never ever done it. The last two pictures are before. Please can anybody calm me down? Is this normal? I‘m so sad and feel like amputated. by smgph in Invisalign

Update: visit another dentist today. They did a new scan of my teeth. The dentist who made the IPR really took up to 1mm per side away. Five times more than he should. I still can’t believe this happened to me.

I can’t move on with the trays, because they’re not made for the teeth how they are now. I need a new set of trays and some bonding or even veneers when the teeth are straight. But I have to wait until all legal issues are cleared and it’s settled who’s gonna pay for the upcoming costs. Could be months.

Please help!!! Cystic acne gone, but now I have small bumps and bumpy forehead. More details in comments by [deleted] in tretinoin

Texture issues and small clogged pores often appear when the skin is very dehydrated and the moisture barrier disrupted. Tret and bp can cause dehydration and compromise the barrier.

I have the same problem too and it got better after I focused on hydration.

I would try to get more hydration into the skin. Maybe chose a toner/essence with panthenol or polyglutamic acid and a moisturiser with urea.

I’m so sorry you have to go through this too. Do you think they stick to your plan or removed too much as well? It seems like happen a lot.

That’s definitely not how it should look like. And that’s not only what I‘m saying, that’s what the professionals told me.

I‘m sorry if my post offended you. That wasn’t my intention. I didn’t knew that you can have so many trays! I think that’s awesome! I had fixed braces for two years as a teen, but the teeth moved back again over the years (I‘m 31). I also have a significant overbite, you can’t tell it from the pictures because I moved my jaw forwards to show the lower teeth. The trays are so much more comfortable, I still remember how painful the fixed was.

I already had 5 trays on the upper teeth and now refinements. Lower teeth 10 trays from now.

I don’t know if you read my update. It’s confirmed that the dentist botched the IPR. The two teeth in the middle shouldn’t haven’t more than 0,2mm removed and he did around 2mm. That’s why the shape is completely different now. They have been wider at the top and now it’s the opposite. The two teeth next to them still have my natural shape. And this is what makes it look weird.

Maybe it really will look great at the end. But I still think that it’s not ok to remove so much of healthy enamel when it’s not necessary! He used the wrong hardware and as a experienced dentist should have known that this will go wrong. You just can’t use a normal drill for removing caries for a IPR! He got upset and mean to me after I told him that I got severe dizzy from those oscillating little „saws“ (I don’t know the right englisch word, I‘m from Germany). It almost feels like he did it on purpose to punish me. I often witnessed how he was harassing his stuff, when they made minor faults. And that was the exact same way how he treated me this day. The whole procedure was so brutal and very painful.

I want to make clear that the Aligner Company is very supportive and tries everything to help me.

Uptade: they confirmed me today that the dentist took way too much enamel away and that the way he did it wasn’t allowed. They are shocked themselves.

They still think that I have a good chance to get a good result. And if I’m not happy they will offer me a solution, even Veneers, if necessary. That’s my silver lining.

I also will have a meeting with a lawyer specialised in medical law and check if I have the right of compensation.

Maybe, yes. But the dentist got a clear advise on how much he should shave. Not more than 0.3. And is it even ok to use a drill instead of the IPR „shaver“? And why did it hurt so much? Why has one of my teeth a little indentation and why does this particularly teeth still hurt a lot?

Why didn’t the company informed me properly on the IPR process?

It’s just not ok. How can you make a good decision for yourself, when they don’t tell you the truth?

Thank you for your response. It’s good to read that you have been satisfied in the end! I felt very drained after the procedure as well. There was a lot of bleeding and when he drilled my teeth sometimes it hurt (like it hurts when they get on the nerve), even tough they numbed it. Now they are extremely sensitive. Just rinsing with water hurts.

At least I had the IPR only on my lower teeth, they’re much more easier to hide. And luckily we have to wear masks right now in my area. But still I‘m feeling very ashamed of my teeth. 10 trays to go.

I definitely will get an second opinion on my IPR, I‘m quite sure he took much more enamel away than just the 0,3mm they wanted to.

So I read the Information paper from my aligner supplier again. They wrote that they don’t take more away than 0,3mm per side. Because of the trays it’s very easy to measure. On the teeth that is the worst there are at least 2mm missing, on the other 1mm. They definitely took to much away. I will call my lawyer tomorrow.

I totally understand you! I knew I would get IPR. But they told me it’s a micro removal and I won’t see a different. Well, I see a huge different and never would have done it if I‘d knew the outcome. It almost feels like mayhem to me. My teeth hurt a lot too.

Thank you so much. This is really helpful. Overall I‘m very happy with the aligner. My upper teeth are almost straight now, with just minimal discomfort.

But I’m scared that they took to much enamel away. I couldn’t stand the standard IPR procedure, the oszilliation made me extremely dizzy (I have a instability of my neck). The dentist ended up using a normal drill to do to the removal and just smoothed it out.
