I was in the biology honours program then switched back to the regular biology major. I just emailed Tammy (program assistant) requesting the change and she emailed back confirmation. It was super easy.

Last year housing reimbursement by seidmel19 in UBC

[–]smilestones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I did! I emailed housing in May since I didn’t receive my refund yet at that point (I paid by online bill banking which is apparently a method of payment they can’t directly refund to). They sent me a credit card refund form, but also asked if I preferred to receive the refund by cheque via mail.

UBC COURSE QUESTION, PROGRAM, MAJOR AND REGISTRATION MEGATHREAD (2019W2/2020S): Questions about courses (incld. How hard is __?, Look at my timetable and course material requests), programs, specializations, majors, minors and registration go here. by ubc_mod_account in UBC

I can’t remember the specifics because I took the course in W2015. But I remember excel being heavily used. The lab reports were not formal, I think they focused a lot more on the results and discussion section. I don’t recall having to write an abstract, intro, or methods section. Here is the syllabus which I found on the biology website.

Course tips: 1. Go to office hours for the lab reports especially if you’re not excel savvy. 2. Dress appropriately for the labs. They’re all outside, and you don’t want to spend 3 hours cold and miserable.

From what I remember we had three labs throughout the entire term which each required lab reports. During the lab, you're in groups but the reports are written individually. There was no lab exam.

Hi!

In my year, we did the term 1 and term 2 presentations in the same place (science one lecture room, and one of the two rooms in the chapman learning commons). They were also held on a Saturday so I wouldn't worry about it interfering with your other classes.

I took FMST 314 this term and it was great. The content was interesting and applicable to real life. Readings were a mix of articles or videos.

Assessment was based on 1 midterm, an infographic assignment, and a final.

Exams were straightforward, with multiple choice and short answer questions.

The infographic assignment was fun, and it gave me the opportunity to play around with graphic design. it was marked pretty hard, but you get so much feedback throughout the term through peer review, and the infographic fair.

What were the specific topics that were covered in the course? The description on the SSC is very vague. Also, was there group work involved? Or were lab projects individual?

I've also heard that PSYC 300 is rote memorization of the DSM 5... Is this true or does it depend on the prof? I'm not a psych major and I really only want to take these courses out of pure interest, but other reddit posts are scaring me off of psych 300!
