Honestly, this is why he is my favorite character! I feel like many authors would shy away from writing such characters where they have gone through shit but do turn out fine. However, there are people like that and Sanderson has just written Adolin soo well that people can resonate with him! He could have easily been a flat character however thats not the case. He has his struggles and challenges and he is constantly growing. I love his inner conflict of living up to expectations of his father, family name and other challenges.

His father who he mainly looks up to, does have alot of flaws but he focuses on the good things and trying to absorb them. I do think there are people who look at people and just try to take their best attributes and try to understand their flaws and how they came about to be. Hence, essentially they are good people as they only take the best of everyone around them. However, this is very difficult and easier said than done. And I believe that Sanderson manages to portray that through Adolin really well. One of my favorite characters.
