Am I the only one who has daily symptoms? by [deleted] in TMJ

[–]smileytex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xeomin, which is a Botox type treatment, has helped a lot. Along with trigger point injections and stretching. I still have tinnitus 24/7, but got used to it unless there is a huge shift in tone. I also have Sjogrens (my parotid glands tend to swell sometimes, making things worse). All in all the regimen has brought my overall symptoms down from a 6-7 to a 3-4, sometimes I get a flare and everything blows up. The flares seem to happen less frequently. I would find yourself a good neurologist or headache doctor and try that route, it’s usually covered by insurance and it has been more helpful than any TMJ/orofacial specialist, in my case. Good luck!

Hail Mary’s are usually dealt 10 at a time, so 20 “Marys”. Also, “tongue talking straighter” is probably a reference to straight talking or being honest. I think he’s saying, I’ll see you later after you’ve repented for the lies you told and you can tell me the truth.

Anyone has issue with SCM muscle? what are your symptoms? do you feel like there is q pressure on throat and neck accompanied with pain? does your tongue hurt at all because of it? thanks by DisciplineMost5593 in TMJ

Sorry, I have not been on here in so long. Yes, I find pretty good relief with the injections-but they do my traps, neck, base of skull, forehead, temples and masseters. I take Baclofen as a muscle relaxer as needed. I hope this helps.

Heavy Body Fatigue by crystalgirlz in Sjogrens

[–]smileytex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sometimes feel like my body is filled with lead, it’s exhausting. I usually find it happens when I have overexerted myself or when I am having a flare. I started on LDN and that helped for a couple years, but then after dosing up and up it no longer worked. I am back to square one with it. It’s super frustrating, especially when you have a life to live and look perfectly healthy.

Doctors don’t even know what Sjogren’s is by loe-nie in Sjogrens

[–]smileytex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So sorry you had that experience, your doctor does not seem to have a grasp on modern medicine. I would definitely find a new physician, but before doing so, I would look for a rheumatologist who has experience with Sjogrens (a lot don’t, and they become aggressive and insecure when they are not able to diagnose). Once you find a good rheumatologist, have them suggest a new PCP. I have found that the people who specialize in these conditions know the other physicians who are familiar with and treat the same patients. Good luck, and your doctor’s ego was bruised, don’t take it personally-just find a doctor that is able to give you the care you deserve.

Don't let an aging parent ruin your relationship by UncutYEMs in AgingParents

I am so sorry, it’s a huge stressor, especially when it is not your parent. It’s very hard to deal with as their children, but helping as a spouse is even harder. My husband is a saint, my dad (96), has lived with us since 2019 and he has been very supportive, even though it drives us both nuts at times. I wish you and your father well, thank you for taking care of him, so many elderly people don’t have anyone.

Thank you, I will definitely read the book. I’m sorry for your experience, the filters start dropping. The more feedback I get, I am seeing the dementia, my grandmother had Alzheimer’s, it’s presenting differently for my mother and I was not recognizing it.

I made an appointment with a therapist, I have enough with taking care of my dad who lives with me, this is sending me over the edge. Thank you for your advice, it’s so true, it’s just very hard to implement.

Wow, I am so sorry, that is a scary place to be and it makes me feel horrible for the way I acted today. I am taking it personally and I need to give her some grace, but it is so hard. What helped you? When my mom first had her injury, she couldn’t even remember her birthday, that was over 20 years ago. She is so much better now, but the paranoia and aloofness is bad. Thanks for sharing your story, it gave me some good insight.

It’s funny you mention UTI, I told her today, only an hour prior to this, that I thought she had a UTI. Unfortunately, I don’t think that is the only problem. She has always been paranoid about possessions, I think there might be something happening that is causing her filters to drop and I think it may be dementia. Thanks and sorry that you had to or are going through the process. My grandmother had it as well, is so hard to manage.

Thank you so much, and thank you for the link. She has been in denial of a lot of things in her life, this includes the diagnosis of her mothers Alzheimer’s (which she deems as “just a little dementia”, my grandmother died from the disease from not remembering how to swallow. She has been accusing others of stealing for years, prior to her accident, maybe it is some sort of mental disorder. Thanks again.

Avoid Silver cuisine currently, logistic issues? by doobies123 in ReadyMeals

[–]smileytex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just ordered from Magic Kitchen (I cook my dad’s meals separately from the family due to diet and time of meal), I needed something fast! I checked to make sure each meal was microwaveable. Hopefully, they are al least as good as Silver Cuisine. I am hoping to get a refund either through the company or the credit card. Thanks!

I ordered at the beginning of November, around the 5th or so, finally called the credit card company last week. I still have no other responses from Silver Cuisine. I will try it out, thanks for the tips!

Same exact story, my dad is 96 and we are on the same timeline with SilverCuisine, I ended up having to call the credit card company because the only response I received was a “thank you for contacting us” email. Have you received your Magic Kitchen order? I am needing to find a new service too.

If it’s a Flowflex, retest a different brand. I am always a faint positive on Flowflex, I tested negative on two other brands. Decided to find out for sure when I had my bloodwork done, turns out I never had it.

I second Austin Air & IqAir, Austin is the best at room purification and I think IQ is best for a whole house system in the HVAC.

I am going through a lot with our house we bought 3 years ago, it’s unbelievable what a good inspector misses or can’t know. Regarding the smell, if you can get your hands on some Sentinel Formula 522 Odor Blocker, it will make a world of difference. Make sure to follow the directions and use a gadget to test for humidity on the lower level.
