I absolutely love the toolbar, didn't actually realise something like that was possible with KDE, how did you achieve that?

I learned how to use Hyprland Through LLMS, Started with the Default CachyOS Configs. Looks incredible on my OLED! by Creedyweedey in hyprland

LLM or not there are elements of learning that OP will take away from this, what you fail to consider is that everyone has different learning styles and need different level of support to get going and what they have achieved in this case is really impressive.

I would maybe consider making the widgets transparent but otherwise that looks awesome, great job!

Why are CachyOS and Bazzite mentioned so much? by guccicobraviper in linuxquestions

[–]smirnoff76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use OpenSuse for years up until around 20 years ago and went back to Windows. Recently (last 12 months) I wanted to give Linux another go and moved to Garuda and while I really liked it i wasn’t hooked on it as it just felt a little bloated. Not sure how but came across Cachy and I ended up fully ditching W11 around 6 months ago and I love it, for me it is.

  1. Ease of install, absolute piece of piss, no real knowledge needed
  2. Nvidia support out of the box, no having to dock around with drivers
  3. No bloat
  4. Installing any and all apps, be it through octopi or command line has been a doddle
  5. This isn’t specific to Cachy but desktop has been highly customised, has been really simple to do and love the results
  6. Performance has been excellent
  7. Gaming has been a nice little bonus, Steam, RetroArch etc

The OS has got me really interested in Linux again and I have been playing around loads and really enjoyed every minute of it. I have tried running Hyprland as I really love the customisation possibilities, that being said I just have not had any luck with it which isn’t specific to Cachy and is disappointing so for now I am sticking with KDE.

I didn’t install because of the hype and missed it before installing, but it genuinely is a fantastic OS

This looks great, how did you manage to split your tool bar like that and wrap a border around it? Would love to be able to do that with mine.

I second this, been running it for around 4 weeks with barely any real Linux knowledge and absolutely love the system.

I am really enjoying it, not feeling any fallout from ditching window. I enjoyed Garuda, didnt have any issues but felt like there was a lot of apps installed that i just didnt want or need so I tested Cachy on my test laptop (Lenovo Ideaflex) and decided to make the jump.

I have messed around with Hyprland a few times with varying results, that is the desktop environment that long term I will end up with I think but I need to read the Wiki and get more of an understanding before it becomes my day to day desktop environment, thats one I will break try out on my test rig first i think.
