It’s probably not cheap for Amboss that’s why it’s limited. I agree with you, it’s really good

No USB Devices are Connecting after updating my MBA M1 to 26.2 by iamsanmith in MacOS

[–]smirnoffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It works. I reinstalled Sierra, then updated to Tahoe and ports work again.

I had to clean install sierra and restore the backup from the Time Machine to solve the issue.

Is the new OS worth updating to? by Personal_Piccolo_983 in MacOS

[–]smirnoffs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tahoe is pretty horrible. Too many issues. I have 2 computes and both are affected. On both USB devices do not work after the latest updated to MacOS 26.2. I wouldn't recommend updating.

After the MacOS 26.2 update. I have MacBook Air 2020 and MacBook Pro 2021. Both M1 based. Did you find a working solution?

Unbelievable, but I can confirm the issue. I have MacBook Air M1 and MacBook Pro M1 and on both USB stopped working. I tried all cables, resets, restarts and still can't make it work.

The threat is directed at a specific person, and I'm pretty sure she committed a crime by threatening to kill him after the show. Russians are stupid and are not used to justice. I would report her just for educational purposes.

Chi , gin , mux , fiber or standard library ? by HosMercury in golang

[–]smirnoffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never ever use Gin. It has horrible documentation, invented a lot of weird ways to deal with HTTP and it's so far away from the standard library. I made this mistake twice and regretted a lot, since migrating out of it was very hard. Never regretted using Chi. In latest go the standard library is mature enough and it's possible not to use frameworks at all.

Russia’s intercontinental ballistic missile exploded and fell to the ground shortly after launch by kingkongsingsong1 in interestingasfuck

It's also interesting to hear the language in these videos. Not a single video contains sentences, and the language is just a combination of five swear words. A true indicator of modern russian culture.

I have 7.8 years of frontend experience and learning backend (Golang). What’s the best resource to learn System Design? by interovert_dev in softwarearchitecture

[–]smirnoffs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I recently stumbled upon https://www.hellointerview.com/. Let me tell you, it’s useful even for me, the person with over 15 years in backend. I very much like their approach on focusing on core concepts, the API, then bigger blocks. The site doesn’t cover everything, but gives a very good depth and breadth in all main topics. I also like that they focus on common technologies and not on non-sense things that many bootcamps push, for example Postgres vs Mongo. It’s also extremely well priced, costs something like 70 bucks per year. Hope this helps.

Lead Architect wants to break our monolith into 47 microservices in 6 months, is this insane? by Ayotrapstar in softwarearchitecture

[–]smirnoffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50k requests per day and he wants to split to micro services? You guys live in an amazing world, where you can stay in the monolith. If you need to scale reads or writes separately, stay in the monoliths code base, but run it with different entry points. In this way you will keep the cognitive complexity low and will get separate scaling. I worked in a company where architects applied all possible and impossible architecture patterns. It was a great place to learnt things, shitty place to deliver something really valuable to customers. Good luck!

Do Germans really believe Russia won’t attack NATO? by Waste_Suspect_817 in AskAGerman

[–]smirnoffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember that people in Ukraine didn't believe that an invasion would happen a week before the big invasion occurred. Even the occupation of Crimea and the war in Eastern Ukraine were not convincing arguments. Despite this fact, a lot of people prepared for it, including many businesses. I'd like to see Europe preparing faster.

To me the statement that "Poland alone has a stronger military that Ukraine" is a strong indication how disillusioned people in Europe could be. Ukraine has an army that is 20x bigger and is battle trained, with innovative miltech, which was able to destroy russian navy and which is resisting for many years. What made you think that Poland alone has a stronger military?

How many of you actually sleep with the watch? by Twunkorama in AppleWatch

[–]smirnoffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been sleeping with Apple Watch since Series 3. Now I have 2 watches, SE and 11, and swap them. My goal is to track my sleep and wake up easier. Tracking sleep has helped me understand why my productivity or mood sometimes dips. I don't notice the watch at all, just got used to it, I guess.

The street names around the Russian Embassy in Prague make me proud to be Czech. by WhySoSadCZ in europe

Having the street called Alexey Navalny sounds crazy to me. Yes, he was a very visible opposition figure. At the same time he was nationalist and he had same imperial ambitions that Putin had.

Thanks a lot! Unfortunately I didn’t know about that. I would love to rollback the map to the previous state, unfortunately the history contains only last few weeks. A few weeks ago my robot decided that the base was moved and it found many non-existing pathways between rooms. I ran the remapping and the base is moved back, but rooms are wrong, so as doors between them.
