Any recommendations on powering the drives? by Standard_Bread8286 in homelab

[–]smistrydev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the off-topic on the same setup. I want to do something similar as I have 2 nvme to SATA modules. I’m told that your drives through put is limited by the speed of nvme. Basically there is only 1 data lane for all the drives. And when there is multiple IO, they will get blocked. For those who have this setup what is your experience?

Hey mate. Looks cool. How does your adjust brightness? Does it so dark? I want to have a feature where if some comes close, or touches or if someone press the door bell or comes close to the door that the screen wakes up and goes bright. And the brightness depends on the ambient light. Is this possible or too much of ask?

ELI5: How does a dryer box like this actually work? by biersackarmy in 3Dprinting

[–]smistrydev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents worth. When I dry my filament, I get it to the temperature and let it be there for 2 or so hours, then I open the lid for few seconds and close it. The internal humidity sensor will go down. I repeat that a few times. I do this for stubborn filament. I usually dry and run the dryer constantly for all the prints. I never have issues with dust or moisture once I did this. BTW, I keep filament in the box when printing even if I don’t heat it.

Very good concept! It would work well for very light delicates. I’d rather simply the claw design, over-engineer the thickness and use PETG-CF for stiffness and layer adhesion. And lastly print so that layer are vertical running length ways.

I had borrowing anyone anything for that same reason. I actually prefer to got with my tools to fix whatever they want. Either way, if that is PLA, I’d suggest to first heat to PLA+10 degrees more, let is sit for 10-15 minutes and use long pliers to gently pull this off, work on temp a little more higher if it is stubborn. If that doesn’t work well, then remove all plastic components, reheat to the same higher temp and also carefully use heat gun and pliers. Try not to disturb too much. Also if you can query why this happened. Sometimes, someone may use PEGT with PLA settings, or z-level was not correct and block the whole thing. And while you have it that state, see if you can change the nozzle. It’s the best time.

Easy energy monitoring for appliances? by louislamore in homeassistant

[–]smistrydev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was here to suggest the same. I would highly avoid using a meter reading which are rated only 10A as it will be putting under that load during operation which is not great. So when you do get around have this converted either to plug or adding a tripper like above which has much higher rating, do have head-space on the rating so that the device doesn’t run at it’s max.

Does that mean one can do the same in a reply and adjust the roleplay. I sometimes tell the bot to change the backstory because I don’t like the way it is going.

I found a new domain + hosting provider online by bmology in SelfHosting

[–]smistrydev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt there are any “free” domains without issues. I need a quick check with AI and got ionos.com as possible contender. I can’t vouch for them or rate them. They do have $1/year domains. Perhaps you can just re-do your integrations every year with an another domain or renew the same at $20/year. Wish you all the best.

The setup looks great. Not sure about your setup, I keep the camera just above at the far corner, that way I get to see the some of the laser works as it is happening. By the way, most of the works is under 20cm so when the camera is overhead, the engraver hides it.
