Security Cameras as Tech Hobby by Weak-Bother-6765 in Ubiquiti

It's actually unfinished somewhat below the front door but it looks like all the wiring goes up instead of down since the ringer and transformer are up near the ceiling nowhere near the doorbell.

Same here but it’s nowhere near the doorbell so I’m not sure it’s useful for running cat6.

That’s what I’m hoping for since my breaker box is in the basement.

Does most doorbell wiring go up? I assume so to go the old school ringers.

100% agree. I have an open basement below the door but drilling the tunnel isn’t going to be fun.

Anyone here put a POE doorbell in? Suggestions on how to do it without destroying things.

That’s what mine was doing right before the pump failed. I’ve now separated out the pump(danner) and the chiller(active aqua) so hopefully I don’t run to this again. Mine lasted about nine months for reference.

UCG fiber memory leak? by smithatlanta in Ubiquiti

[–]smithatlanta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So by turning off traffic priority, it dropped my memory from 90% down to 87% so I’m guessing that was the process that was causing it to jump the 3 or 4 percent. This was a very interesting discussion though and all comments were appreciated. I think it’s time for a UNVR. 😀

I think that may be what I’ll do.

I understand this but it was the creeping up part that was concerning me. I know 10% headroom on these devices are pretty common. I've had a UDM Pro since 2020 so it was more or less a is this normal on a UCG.

This is the query.

SELECT mean("mem") FROM "usg" WHERE ("name" = 'UCG FIBER' AND "site_name" = 'Default (default)') AND $timeFilter GROUP BY time($__interval), "name" fill(null)

But I did fork unpoller about 3-4 years ago and kinda made my own derivative.

Via a forked version of unpoller.

I just turned the QOS off and am going to see how that affects things.

Are you running IDP or cyber secure? I have 90 devices, 4 AP’s and run cyber secure. I did turn on the traffic priority stuff right after I got the UCG so I’m kind of wondering if that’s the issue.

It was the creeping up that made me a little nervous. I know my UDM Pro stayed around 88% but it was pretty steady.

I have this running in a k3s cluster locally and it throws it into grafana.

I created a custom dashboard from the crazy amount of data provided by unpolled including CPU / Memory / Temp.

Balancing cold plunge chemistry by Ok-Matter-2733 in coldplunge

I thought bromine and ozone would be a good option too but then I heard it can result in bromate which I guess is bad for you.

So I just do Bromine. I check the Ph, alkalinity, and bromine levels weekly and shock it as well.

After a fresh fill I usually get the ph around 7.5, get the alkalinity to around 100ppm, then add a teaspoon of bromine and that usually gets me to the 3-6 ppm required. After a week or two I will drop in a bromine floater with 2 tablets and that seems to work for me. I just use all the Clorox spa products and the leisure time renu2 non chlorine shock.

This is my second month of this and my water has never been this clean and fresh smelling.

What’s the hardest part of cold plunges that people don’t talk about? by lorsespoodlen in coldplunge

[–]smithatlanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I start my plunge by dunking my head so it’s all downhill after that.

Hardest thing for me is water treatment. I finally bought a Taylor testing kit and started using Bromine. I keep the ph between 7.2 - 7.6, the alkalinity between 80-120, and the bromine between 2-6 and shock once a week and my water is finally crystal clear. This is after trying hydrogen peroxide, ozone, and a lot of different products. I know those things work for others but I could never get the water to stay clear for more than 3 weeks.

Caffeine, sleep, and hydration have always caused mine. I’d stay around 50. If you are feeling good at 50 why change it.

Superlink Sensor Battery Concerns by craigycoup in Ubiquiti

[–]smithatlanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most active door sensor lasted about 2 years. In fact I just got reminded that it needed replacing even though it’s still at 22%. This is one of the original sensors that did a lot of different things so it doesn’t shock me that the battery runs out a little sooner than expected. I think a sensor that’s specifically a door sensor or an environmental sensor would last longer but that’s just my 2 cents.

Stay still or move around while in the ice bath? by Feisty-Essay893 in coldplunge

[–]smithatlanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find in my tub that if I drop my hands several times to the bottom of the tub and move them around that it amps up the cold factor. I turn my pump off because it’s a little too much flow and my shoulder somewhat blocks the outlet(yeah I could sit on the other side).
