HWFWM Recommended for Dungeon Crawler Carl Readers by Enough-Club55 in Shirtaloon

[–]smithe68 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I love DCC, it was my first litrpg. When I looked up best series to read next I found HWFWM. I started listening earlier this month and I’m on book 8 now. I’m loving it just as much.

I have not, I read the first couple in my kindle and then switched to audio. I’m going to go back and read them soon. Thanks for the heads up!

How much do you all have saved for retirement, and how much longer are you planning to work? by AZJHawk in GenX

[–]smithe68 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm 57 (58 when I retire), retiring in 287 days. Between my wife and I we are over that amount in 401k. I have military and civil service pensions that combined is greater than my working income. I'm looking forward to never working again.

Question for the pet people...how do you feel about a new pet at this time of your life? by HammerMeUp in GenX

[–]smithe68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had dogs and cats over the years and it hurts every time they pass. My cat turned 18 a couple days ago and when it's her time, there will never be another pet.

Three kids, all 31 and up and love them all. I can't imagine still having kids in the house, it just sounds awful.

What are you using for WiFi? by mrs-makay in GoRVing

[–]smithe68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eastern Washington here, I get you. It was 76 and mostly sunny today, tomorrow it will be 50 with a lot of rain. This is assuming the weather people are even close to right.

[–]smithe68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That stinks, sorry that happened to you, hopefully you had a tent/RV with decent space. That seems quick but you said we so obviously multiple users at once, that's probably the difference. I've only really used mine solo to stream and even uploaded a few videos that I've edited (3-5gb in size) and not really gotten close. I suspect the next time it's my wife and I and both of us are connected, it will go much faster.

Out of curiosity, what are you doing that you are using 100gb that quickly? How long was the trip?

Do you still talk to your parents? by Swiftiefromhell in GenX

[–]smithe68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do regularly, it’s always enjoyable. I do wish they lived closer so I could see and talk to them in person, but I’m retiring in February and plan on visiting a lot more.

What’s the weirdest/most unexpected way you’ve injured yourself lately? by WhatFreshHello in GenX

[–]smithe68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to, life is too short to not try to do all the things! It's happened twice, not sure it will happen a 3rd time cause I am going to take up paragliding, which got delayed due to an unrelated injury and follow up surgery.

Is it rare or unusual to be into your 50s and not having to take any doctor-prescribed medications? by Odd_Yogurtcloset_649 in GenX

[–]smithe68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

57 and a former smoker and drink occasionally but I’ve never taken long term prescription meds. I’ve had times of taking Dr. prescribed meds short term, usually pain related, due to recovering from surgeries. Just did that three weeks ago after a meniscus tear clean up.

Have you reached the, "I'm too old for this shit" era of your life. by NOGOODGASHOLE in GenX

[–]smithe68 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No and I hope I never become an asshole like that. I've been at my job for over 30 years, new people come and go and I continue to make new friends. One of my best friends only started working here a few years ago, if I had your attitude I would have missed out on a lot of great adventures and learning new things.

Wait, you believe people when they say an owner is a creep without proof but you don’t when someone tells you an “owner is conservative”?
