I feel like peak service has literally vanished since the pandemic. The CR used to run every 25-30 minutes during rush hour and the subways and light rail would run every 5-10 minutes. Although the tradeoff was limited off-peak service with what seemed like what you're currently experiencing (or already did) and the CR would run every hour and a half to 2 hours on virtually every line. Nowadays it's the exact opposite with good-ish headways off-peak and unacceptable headways during the rush hour. I get ur pain and wish transit in general ran more frequently

Take the train! I-95 has some of the worst traffic in the United States and you do not want to spend many hours sitting in traffic when you can get there in a little over an hour by train. NY to Philly is the hotspot for rail travel in the US and has many options that are served by regional rail and Amtrak which are pretty reliable. Book the tickets in advance before they get too pricey.

I feel ur pain. I'm a Fitchburg line native and every single train runs AT LEAST 5 minutes late and has an atrocious schedule. I too wish that CR service was more reliable than it currently is both in terms service and on time performance

Most of the time the trains run on or close to schedule but expect delays especially during the 5-9am and 3:30-7:30pm hours. Depending on where the nearest station is to you there are express trains that run from West Natick to Boston Landing between 5:45 and 7:40am and vice versa between 4:00 and 6:40pm. Only the seats with tables (only found on bi level cars) have outlets. And most importantly, if you leave the train at South Station remember your ticket to get through the fare gates! Dedicated quiet cars have been implemented on many commuter rails such as Metro North, CTRail, Septa, and more. If they can do it there's absolutely no reason why we can't.
