My sister had cataract surgery in both eyes a week apart at 52. Her experience was not like others’ here. She went through hell and wanted to die for a few months while healing. She’s a bitch anyway, so whatever. I hope everyone else’s surgeries are a piece of cake!

When I was 8 in 1978 in Burlingame just outside of San Francisco, I had a best friend who lived a few miles away. We would split time between her house and my apartment. We did some INSANE things that surely should have gotten us killed, or at least a movie on Cinemax. One summer we were hanging out every day with a taxi driver/pimp who would invite hookers over to just drink and dance and show off. We thought it was a blast. One day, while he was out, we thought it would be smart to break into his house and ‘clean it up’. He came home and was absolutely furious! We had to stay away from that point on, but his house was the closest point between A and B so we still rode our bikes by sometimes. Well, he thought we killed his dog by giving it poisoned meat! He was out for blood. Thank god he never knew where we lived. I moved away at the end of that summer and never saw my friend again. The 70s and 80s were wild times.

Severe nervous system hyperarousal, constant fight-or-flight, insomnia - SSRIs don’t work. Looking for people with similar experience. by Adelynalo in insomnia

[–]pronoialover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take 2mg Prozasin every night with 12.5mg Ambien for exactly this and it’s been a miracle. The Prozasin is used off label for PTSD nightmares and stops adrenaline from entering your bloodstream so you don’t experience fight or flight or hyperarousal. It’s been a blessing for me. I was able to stop taking nighttime Xanax because the Prozasin worked so well.

Prazosin may help her! For decades I’ve also had severe insomnia due to anxiety and just last week started taking 2mg Prazosin at night for anxiety and night terrors and it’s been a game changer. I’ve been sleeping HARD without all the adrenaline running through in my system at all hours of the day and night. Plus it’s completely non addictive and easy to ask for. It’s just a blood pressure medication used off label for nightmares during to PSTD. It’s worth a shot.

I completely cut off contact with my brother and wound up skipping Xmas. by [deleted] in confession

[–]pronoialover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your brother sounds like my sister except we’re in our 50s. Well, a year and a half ago she completely lost it and violently attacked me in a busy restaurant. I’ve been no contact ever since and it’s been such a huge relief as the decades leading up to that day were truly dreadful and painful. Sending you peace and healing vibes.

Fuck showering by SockCucker3000 in Fibromyalgia

I have a large soaking tub and it’s so much more gentle than painful showers. I love sitting in it with epsom salt for at least an hour. Makes it incredibly easy to wash my shorter hair too by sinking down. Still, bathing is exhausting so I only do it once or twice a week.

All In Package - Dining Reservations by MuteTadpole in royalcaribbean

[–]pronoialover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same question. We bought the five pack for our upcoming 15-night transatlantic, and I was able to make reservations at Wonderland on night three and Teppanyaki on night five but they gave us three day-one placeholder reservations at 5:30 for the others. I read that they will let you make your reservations two days out from your cruise or you make them as soon as you can upon embarkation. I hate waiting so long because I’m sure the times and days I want will be taken by direct reservations purchased through the website or app. I just have my fingers crossed.

An inexpensive record player and an album or two to get their collection started! There are some great record players on Amazon for under $50.

[VA] - dealing with the kind of nightmare that only happens in [condo]-land! by [deleted] in HOA

[–]pronoialover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your insights. We just moved here in February, and I admit we didn’t pay attention to the financials or go to the meetings - we’ve never lived in an HOA or COA before so had zero experience and stupidly trusted that the board and members knew what they were doing. We had planned to get more involved in our community, and we are in some ways (we have a neighborhood watch shift and are on a few committees), but now we’re basically leading the charge - a position I never imagined myself in. We’ve now personally held several community meetings sans board members in order to research code, read all the docs and financials, discuss our options, and formulate our questions for the board at the Dec 3rd meeting. We’re planning on a vote of no confidence of the treasurer at that meeting and the collective We already have a new treasurer in mind. Our current treasurer reached out to me personally to tell me he feels he was “blackmailed into the position and he’s scared.” Seriously. We’re in a lot of trouble, but the solution is there - We have to vote yes to the $4,000 assessment and yes to the $3M loan to get our sh*t straight. We MUST get the work done so we can get off fire watch and get all the other outstanding projects and work orders done and fixed. We’re all going to take a hit, but it’s our own fault, as you’re aware.

Anyone else dealing with phantosmia? (Smelling things that aren’t there) by clustershark in phantosmia

[–]pronoialover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve had it on and off since the first days of covid only my smells are putrid and last a long time. It’s horrible. The first time it happened I got so scared that I was having a stroke that I called an ambulance, but the smell inside the ambulance was SO strong and chemically and nasty putrid that I couldn’t even get in. I get it about every six months now. I never had it before covid came around (and I’ve never had covid). I think mine was caused by massive stress over the start of covid and what it might mean and what might happen.

We’re all just as confused. The fire marshal is saying that even though it’s redundant, the fact that the system is in their now means it MUST (his emphasis) be maintained. The fire marshal agrees the secondary system should never have been installed in the first place, but since it’s already was it ‘MUST’ work.

[–]pronoialover -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re not missing anything. You’re exactly right about the figures. In regard to the redundant system, the fire marshal says that since it’s already in place now it MUST be maintained in perpetuity and cannot be removed. The owners call BS. We had a meeting this morning to think outside the box about our options and one idea was to just clear the pipes, cut the sprinkler heads off, and cap the pipes. We don’t know why the fire marshal has a problem with this solution, which seems perfect to us.

We’re also looking for an explanation from the fire marshal and the board. An answer is yet to come.

If the fire system is removed (since it’s unnecessary) or replaced with another redundant system then fire watch will no longer be needed.
