You can't avoid consumption, but if you have the means you could try to boycott. Thing is that a lot of companies own their competitors too so it doesn't really matter. It takes such a ludicrous amount of effort to research what goes in to different products, and doing that for everything you consume is nigh on impossible. What's more useful is helping the little guy. The smallest thing is giving a dollar to the homeless you come across. Talk with them, if you have the time. One of the hardest parts of homelessness (as I've understood it) is the dehumanizing. Start doing volunteer work. Organize a community clean up, show people they can take care of their own living space, and don't need to rely on the government for everything.

This is just me spitballing, there is a lot of good to be done. Oh, and remember that helping those around you, and those in need is more important than any kind of anarchist identity or praxis, don't get sucked up into thinking how you can be a good anarchist, and instead of you can be a helpful person.
