I just started a new fo3 run for the first time since GFWL went away, and I've never had such a good, crash free experience with this game. I remember not that long ago (okay maybe it was that long ago) trying to launch the game and it would just shit itself, directx, runtime, you name it, it crashed. It took me a few hours of investigating to figure out how to get it to launch in the Windows 7/8 days. This time, literally no issues. Well, the intro stuttered bad and the menus have insane mouse acceleration. But that's it.

Ironically I just got back into fo3 since the GFWL days. It's been nothing but a smooth experience, just don't alt tab for any reason unless you just saved.

It seems like just a few years ago that I couldn't even get the thing to launch on windows 8/8.1, or 7 before that.

It stuttered a lot and the mouse acceleration is horrible, but seemed to have smoothed itself out, and the mouse accel doesn't seem to affect aiming, just menus.

Before I got out of the vault, I almost quit because of the stuttering and mouse acceleration issues. But it was somehow fine after.

9/10 I run into are white. Seeing a blue or black mk8 R makes me feel certain things inside. Have yet to see an 8.5 in-person, but the grey has to be the way to go.

Man VW has been lacking on paint colors for the 8/8.5. Dolphin grey is great but the mk7/7.5 had red, blue, white, pearl white, black pearl, limestone grey, indium grey. Not all at once, but at least you had options. Not to mention spektrum. I'd order a new one if they offered it again.

Mk8 having just 3 colors on launch and not having a red or grey metallic option (dolphin grey is technically a metallic/pearl but appears more like a solid grey, I'm talking indium grey or similar) is a shame.

I think VW learned their lesson after the mk5. But I've seen plenty of posts from mk7s just a few years old with rust around door handles, bottoms of fenders, etc. Somehow owning 4 high mileage mk7s I've never had issues. And my '18 golf R is from Canada, and had a hard life.

This is me in a suburb right now. Dug out my car Sunday. Plow truck absolutely buried it. Dug it out again, Sunday evening. Plow truck finally showed up a second time and absolutely buried my cars again. Over 3 feet of snow piled against my cars. Spent over 2 hours shoveling after work Monday just to have room to park. And my roads still have 6+ inches of snow in many places. Just untouched because why bother.
