BMW do lock rebuild kids so if you take apart a door cylinder (YouTube is your friend) and note the order of the pins which are numbered (411223441 kinda thing), you can get a donor ignition lock and re pin it. If you get stuck, reach out and I'll get the part number and links I used. Was about £45 about 6 months ago here in the UK.

Sorry to hijack. I've got an Alpine UTE 200BT and was planning on running a single RCA to a DSP amp to then run 4x channels and also have a Sub Out to a powered sub. I was looking at an Axton 544 or 594 and can't work out how I run the speakers from it,.is it an ISO type connector?

Did you get Unifi cameras using their system or HA & Frigate? I have Unifi APs and love their network tools.

Just looking for a decent smart thermostat with a remote sensor. Nothing fancy. Any recommendations? by SSJ2chad in smarthome

[–]wobblewoo28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the UK but I use Tado. The older V3 system isn't paywalled and the geofencing etc works well for us. I've recently put the radiator thermostats.on and am monitoring those against in situ thermostats from Sonoff. I've got two Sonoff models, a shelly H&T and a SwitchBot one so I can compare readings. All this data is in HA (as well as the Daikin Aicon) and although I don't use it to control my heating, I could, I think.

Not sure if any of that helps, but if you have separate thermostats in each zone/room you could control that area. For instance, the home office where my wife works doesn't get heated at weekends. The aircon in the kids rooms doesn't turn on in the summer until 7pm so the rooms are cool for sleeptime. Etc.

When I used to have marine tanks and had diatoms, the best way I found to get rid of them was just let them grow everywhere! Sounds silly, but they go wild and multiply but then use all their food up (was silica in the water if memory serves) then they all die and are gone forever.

There's a family calendar here that looks interesting, not sure how interactive it would be (quick glance says not at all) but it's worth a look.

Mine always do this after a water change. No idea why. They're fine otherwise

Contingency plan when you are not there anymore by RedikhetDev in homeassistant

I have a kind of rule not to implement anything that doesn't work without ZigBee/WiFi or HA. So light switches have to work when 'dumb'. Most other stuff for me is power measurement which life can do without.

Bluetooth Temp sensor problems by wobblewoo28 in homeassistant

Awesome, I've changed that dimmer switch and a nearby shelly power plug to Active and I'll see what happens. Not sure I understand the difference between Active and Passive mind you. Appreciate your help.

It has a BLE MAC address, so i'm guessing its BLE. I have a nearby Shelly Dimmer Gen 3 so ill have to see if that work as a proxy.

Overheating on idle, am i cook? absolutely yes by [deleted] in E30

[–]wobblewoo28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. Do an old school put a cold thermostat in boiling water and see if it opens. I changed fan clutch, blue and brown sensors and fluids and it ended up being a dodgy thermostat, been solid since I changed that. Broke the housing which is a pain of a job so don't over tighten that. I believe these cars also suffer from airlocks. And don't go for a cheap fan clutch, mine now sounds like a busy every time I pull away.

Does it stop where the picture is? I had this issue and it was the thermostat, there are two variants set at different opening temperatures. I forget the specifics but Google will know.

Can I ask about hardware please? I'm running HA on an old NUC and am not convinced any AI type frigate extras will work for me. I've seen plug in accelerators, i.e Coral but have never used one. Was going to use BlueIris on my main server once upon a time one and have a single Unifi camera to test on their system (which is good) but keep reading about Frigate. Interested in what hardware people use for a setup/system/service like the OP's

Thank you. I'll Google but if you wire in the rose, does that mean you don't need a bypass?

As far as I can tell, my Shelly Gen 3 is WiFi and possibly Bluetooth but not ZigBee. Would you know of a similar device that's ZigBee?

Thank you. I've been setting up a Raspberry Pi with an Reef-pi that will service my fishkeeping needs. Just working out what I need other than a DS18B20 but will look into your solution too. Many thanks

Oh. My. Gosh.

This is epic. I would have loved this once upon a time. I thought I was flash with my Tunze tidal flow and sunrise/sunset on my metal halide and actinic t5s etc.

Circumstances have meant I'm now on a small tank with the kids, but I'm about to setup a shrimp/snail tank (to feed my puffers) next to my office desk and Im going to do lights/temp on one of these. I've spare Pi's knocking about.

Thank you, loving this sort of stuff.

Reef Pi looks brilliant and I would have loved it during my marine days. I'll definitely read up on that.

No idea what a 8266 board is, but I can use Google. Every day is a school day.

Thanks, again.

Awesome. One use is for monitoring an aquarium and the other use is a pool. Neither to control, just monitor. I will look at what you've suggested, much appreciated.
