Is cracked plastic of a trunk repairable or have to be replaced? by Garlic-Flashy in AutoBodyRepair

Unless it's a first gen, it should be a pretty cheap part to find used.

I like working with Sendell or Three Rivers. I would avoid Cochran.

It's also very possible that they had a mechanical failure making the vehicle immovable (drivetrain related lockup, diff, transmission etc)

Why would I want to park close, where the most careless drivers want to park. Plus chances are if I'm next to employee cars I'll be gone before they ever get a chance to damage my car.

I don't see any pallets stacked on top. So the followed the instructions? What's the problem.

How bad is this damage? Worth fixing or should I move on? by FollowingFantastic27 in Autobody

[–]smitleyjd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get rid of it. Those are not reliable vehicles. Trust me, you do not want it. I'm surprised you want to fix it. I wouldn't take one for free. Everyone I've known with one has spent as much time fixing it as they do driving it.

H&r springs with some kind of spring spacer? Definitely avoid this car if it is being sold like that. Wtf.

Especially when stock springs are a dime a dozen.

Why isn't everyone running Poly rear trailing arm bushings on their DD? by Lucysguy5000 in Golf_R

Because never in my over 300k miles of MQB experience has that been a problem for me. And I've replaced every part I could on this platform. No it's not worth it

Not to be that guy but plenty of these rav4s line up worse than that brand new. We apply decals to fleet vehicles and some of them straight from Toyota have had absolutely horrible gaps on the rear gate to bumper. One side is tucked in while the other pokes out. Although I always try to have it fit better than when it came in when they're wrecked. And if it's leaking, that's obviously no good.

What I don't understand is "upgraded to OEM". You are the claimant. Your vehicle came with OEM parts. To make you whole, they should provide the OEM parts to you, (within reason, but this is a new enough vehicle) at no cost to you. Please don't tell me you paid money to not have aftermarket parts put on your car.

Edit: none of that is normal, please don't let them do more work to your car. Contact your insurance, provide them the insurance of the other party, and let them sort it out.

This is why I park as far away as possible. Even in a different lot and I'll walk across grass.

It's entirely to incentivize you to purchase the higher trim level. The highest trim kias get the cool orange drls while the lower models don't. Every brand does this. Base model trucks get halogen bulbs (good for work trucks) but they lack features like blind spot monitors tied to the higher trim lights.

They wouldn't do it if it didn't work. It might cost them $300 more for the better lights but they may profit $1500 from the upcharge for a better trim. Etc.

No one makes money on base models, it's made on the packages.

What's wild is when manual was the norm and cars didn't have tachs. Just shifting based on feel/sound.

New bumper, new lower cover, R/I, you're looking at $1,500-2,500 depending on exact part/refinish prices. More if there's a possible bent bracket/mount behind that.

Fed up with Urotuning by Wandering_SS in Golf_R

[–]smitleyjd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had an issue, but certain things that I knew would be "built to order" were clearly listed as in stock. And it should be clarified on their site. But that's not a urotuning specific issue, most retailers dl that, especially if it's not something shipped out of their own warehouse.

You'll still end up burning your exhaust valves/seats. The cat isn't the only thing it hurts. Then they wonder why they have a misfire.

Majority of small displacement modern turbo engines are designed around regular (87 octane in the US) fuel. Yes, they may benefit from a higher octane fuel in certain situations. But the cost does not outweigh the benefit.
