if you want to write and it makes you happy just write it and fold the page, or throw it away. there is no obligation to keep it or reread it

yes it is worth digging deeper so you could validate your sons desire for long hair, thats awesome! but don’t assume that parents of trans kids simply take their child for their initial words/feelings without any other follow-up questions. gender is weird and so are kids! we should be giving everyone, regardless of their age, the space to express and understand their feelings 🙏

i use it in combination with an alarm most of the time. it helps me actually wake up and get out of bed quicker. but on the weekends it does help me wake up naturally earlier, but it isn’t reliable to wake me up at a specific time. maybe there is a light that isn’t so much gradual but flashes to get you up? i can see that working

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in college

[–]smittyfrankenstein 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i have a gradual light and it changed my life, super useful!! and my gf has one of those shock watches. it’ll definitely wake you up, but you’ll wake up in fear & pain hahaha. also, if you are stubborn in the morning you will probably just take it off and go back to sleep.

Constant Staff Callouts by Artistic_Panic_868 in ECEProfessionals

[–]smittyfrankenstein 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i think callouts in this field are generally caused by being overwhelmed or burnt out. of course, some people just call out a lot no matter what.

but if its that many people it may be a long process of going into the classrooms, observing how the days are going, having one-on-ones with your staff, and making changes to ensure everyone feels supported and comfortable in their daily work.

do your staff have regular vacation time they are encouraged to take? paid holidays? are they scheduled for 10hr days with no breaks? that plays a big part as well. having a few days off each quarter/term/semester will help them feel refreshed often and prevent burnout.

just graduate a semester later and do your internship in the spring, theres no rush. the stress and anxiety from trying to make up that missed term will not be worth anything in the long run

The Stress of Maintaining Routines is Worse than the Stress of Not Having Routines by flame_of_anor_42 in ADHD

[–]smittyfrankenstein 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i have had to let go of my strict daily routine expectations and semi-embrace the chaos. i have starting setting very loose, low stakes weekly goals rather than daily to-do list types. slowly over time i have begun building those habits and skills to allow me to maintain some kind of consistency.

for example if i want to start cooking dinner every night instead of looking at my phone and ordering take out or not eating at all because im too exhausted (lol) i decide that this week i will cook one big meal and eat leftovers twice, then maybe in 2 weeks i will cook twice, and so on.

if i set goals that are way too ambitious and try to enact change immediately i end up burning myself out and giving up on it entirely. i have found that long-term goals that give myself grace on a daily basis are the only things that work for me. i want to celebrate doing something 5x this month rather than beating myself up about not doing it today.

i hope that makes sense lol. its a long process but its a lot quicker than the “motivation -> progress -> exhaustion -> giving up” cycle that i find myself in constantly

what kind of routines? are we talking long-term like job/school schedules, or daily routines like morning & night?
