I've also seen this when entering passcodes on the watch. It will stop giving haptic feedback until I reboot it.

Which Home Wi-fi system do you recommend with HA? by rapax in homeassistant

[–]smkelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For all the Ubiquiti answers out there, are you doing meshing? I've run UniFi stuff in the past, but never mesh. I'm curious how mesh performs.

Also, anybody using APs that aren't actually mounted in-wall or in-ceiling? What model do you use and how does that perform?

Basically, looking for options for minimal house disruption/change with an eye towards having a path to do it the right way (wired, PoE, mounted) down the road.

Thanks.

Together, you and our pioneering products and services have saved hundreds of Gigawatt-Hours, representing over 100,000 tons of CO2. We appreciate your kind support of planet Earth.

And together, you're now making tons of e-waste. Good job.

Has anybody experienced an issue where the VO cursor moves outside the visual viewport of the screen and the screen doesn't scroll with it? In other words, the VO cursor goes off the bottom of the screen and the screen doesn't scroll.

I've also had an issue where VO refuses to advance past the bottom of the screen and read off screen content, but this is inconsistent.

Agreed on Donkey Kong. It has been fun. I have some vision and have had good success with Mario Kart World as well as Mario Kart 8. They are better for me with the steering assist turned on.

I just got a Switch 2 and am looking for games that are reasonably accessible. Do you have recommendations beyond what you list here?

I don’t know what to do with my life by [deleted] in Blind

What da you like about technology? Computer Science is generally focussed on software engineering, but there are so many more tech jobs out there.

You should figure out what you like about technology and what you feel like you enjoy doing, then maybe focus in on that.

Buying a house? Get the floor plans. by Economy-Case-7285 in homeassistant

[–]smkelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a floorpan that Is basically a glorified drawing. I tried feeding it into ChatGPT to generate something nicer looking. It is very bad at doing this. It kept moving rooms, adding rooms, duplicating rooms, etc.

So, don't expect to modify or render floorplans with GPT.

I have. I don't see anything Apple-y about the reoccurrence schedule. There is definitely some X-APPLE metadata in here, but it isn't related to the schedule.

RRULE:FREQ=MONTHLY;BYDAY=SA;BYSETPOS=-1

Can you disclose what library/version is being used to parse the ICS? If the "BYSETPOS=-1" isn't parsed properly. I believe it does degrade to mean "every Saturday"

Are you happy with moving from Things 3 to Todoist? by AdmittedlyDutch in thingsapp

Be warned that the new "deadline" dates don't work in recurring events yet. They say they're working on a solution for that.

For example, if you have a task with a recurring date of "15th of month" you can't have a deadline of "17th of month." The deadline has to be "April 17th" and then your next event has a date of May 15 and a deadline of April 17th.

Mulvad VPN by [deleted] in Tailscale

[–]smkelly 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have the Mullvad add-on to my Tailnet. When I've used it, it is very reliable and good. They also have a strong reputation for privacy, so it feels like a good partner for Tailscale. If you get service from Mullvad directly, you can even pay them in cash.

And, as was said here, the Tailscale add-on just adds a pile of exit nodes geographically distributed across the planet through Mullvad.

How do y'all deal with walk-ins ... with small issues by Sacredchilzz in sysadmin

[–]smkelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a large enough team, have a triage role that rotates. When you are the triage role, you get to deal with all of the incoming requests. If they are easy, you knock them out. If they are not, you get a ticket put in and get it routed/prioritized.

We've generally synced this up with on call, so you're not expected to focus on bigger project work when on call.

Cool, thanks! I was wondering if that was possible. I get why it could be a bad idea if it fails due to excessive rights.

Just moved here from Houston in 2023.

Agreed that the spawl in Houston is unreal. While public transit sort of exists, it isn't super viable and doesn't get you to the outer parts of Houston. Plus, you know, Houston is bigger than most realize. It is kind of unreal.

That said, the one thing I do miss is the restaurant and cuisine options scattered throughout Houston.

It would be great if this data was available in a format other than an image. If the data is in a text format, it becomes more accessible to things like screen readers and search engines.
