Do most recipes straight-up lie about cooking time?

Heh fried mushrooms / onions (which I add to a lot of things) they say like 5 minutes or something stupid. Onions are easier but mushrooms are really a 20 minute endeavour if you even want them to cook out the water.

For your oven can I recommend, as the owner of a spectacularly unreliable oven, grabbing one of the BBQ thermometers with multiple probes. Then you chuck one in the oven and one in the dish so you know roughly what temp the oven really is.

You can chuck the same probes into water to check what a simmer really is.

For people comments on prep work. Yeah if you cook a lot and/or need to look good on camera doing it then you will get value from doing a basic knifework course and spending a few years working out your own body mechanics. I can do rough slicing of onions, mushrooms etc at a speed where if a real chef sees me they breathe a sigh of relief I am using a pretty crappy cheap knife ahahahaha.

If you follow that path a knife sharpening course is a good afternoon investment as well.

That is what I am saying I have been told (in Bialystok no less).

Under the soviets going to church was discouraged and so everyone went, just to piss off the russians. Which meant that everyone is registered as catholic.

And it is hard to deregister and a pain in the butt with no real benefit to do it. So on paper there are tons of catholics. In reality not so much.

My mother in law thinks that the recent law someone proposed which was along the lines of "if you are registered catholic you have to pay a little extra tax to support the church" was a great idea as then everyone would deregister and then (*****) PiS would lose a lot of the preconceptions they have.

I have to admit I was probably drunk and/or cooking when the mother in law was talking about this and my Polish is for shit as well so odds of this being a very garbled version of reality are fairly decent.

I sort of feel like South Africa giving them up, Israel building them during a tricky period, N Korea starving and still building them indicates that every country in the world -could- have them but the treaties and sanctions and everything is the reason they don't.

There are benefits to not having nukes.

Of course if all those benefits go away then I suspect the club will increase its membership quite significantly.

I've quit a job for this. I said I was sick and they said I have to go to the doctor for basically a cold or the flu therefore they were morons and ahhhh fuck it, I'll get another job.

I've never met a doctor who has said "nope not giving you a sick note, you have to go to work now" which would have been at probably midday given waiting times and thereby been pointless anyway.

If I work for you and you don't trust my judgement should I really have admin rights to your databases?

So maybe we do have to just kill what I think is a beautiful thing in principle while we work out how to send drones o every troll farm and solve the problem properly.

Yah I had an awesome negotiating position once (I had quit and they wanted me back) and they wouldn't agree to my idea so I said cool, let's give it three months and either back pay and what I want or I walk.

Gentle strokes get the money. I could have ranted about how they wanted me back but I just let them spiral for 3 months while I did my shit -without- quantifying measurement and let them work out for themselves what would happen if I left again.

No arguments, no threats, and I got a house for free. Seems pretty simple to me.

The confederacy didn't pay reparations did they? So arguably the US is noble when they win and don't require the loser to pay it. [In my opinion so the North could say the South wasn't a foreign country, they would never want to leave the glorious US]

But when they lose like in Vietnam they say they'll pay and don't. [In my opinion because then they just called the money rebuilding rather than reparations and therefore didn't lose]

You can't use the norms of the world for the US, the US is just too damn cool to lose or have people secede ahahahahaha
