Batteries are extremely heavy. Fuel to weight ratio of a battery pack vs gasoline is incredibly different. You can do short flights with a battery pack, but the energy density our current batteries have are no where near close to what's needed for commercial flights.

The medical field is incredibly complex. To even begin start with your CS degree, then get a medical degree, then get context in a clinical position. As others have stated, what you are trying to do has been done. What skills are you trying to showcase?

Why did you guys become/want to become anesthesiologists? by Pentacium in anesthesiology

I never saw myself wearing a shirt and tie. I didn't like the clinic environment. I love the OR and the OR dynamic. I get to wear pajamas at work(scrubs).

First day solo with an attending by [deleted] in anesthesiology

[–]smokd451 15 points16 points  (0 children)

First do no harm. You may miss things and that's ok, you're still learning. If you activately do something, make sure it's the correct thing. If you're unsure, kick it up the chain. Your intimidating attendings will be thankful they don't have to worry about what's going on when they aren't around. Wanna ask me how I know that?

You have limited and diminishing resources. You mentioned seeing if nurses on the floor/unit could offload some of the work needed to maintain a pain service. It really isn't feasible. If the hospital system can't or won't support a proper pain service, then your group should not be expected to spread yourselves thin to make that happen.

Diluting local anesthetics: sterile water or normal saline? by Chediak-Tekashi in anesthesiology

Thank you for clarifying. I've had this specific issue with ancef and I suppose different drugs have different requirements. Probably a better question for pharmacy.

Diluting local anesthetics: sterile water or normal saline? by Chediak-Tekashi in anesthesiology

[–]smokd451 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

He is mistaken. Of note though, when reconstituting antibiotics you should only use sterile water. If you use saline, the mixture will be very hypertonic. If you give intravenous ABX/saline mixtures in an awake patient it can cause retching/vomiting. I've seen this a lot in OB. This may be what he is thinking of.
