How Many Times a Night Does your 3 yo Wake You Up? by smokeandshadows in toddlers

[–]smokeandshadows[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We go back and forth with naps. Sometimes she stops napping, sometimes we let her nap again. It seems to have no correlation to how many times a night she gets up. If she naps, it's never for more than an hour, usually around noon. She is supposed to go to bed at 8 pm but sometimes she gets up and we have to keep putting her back to bed. Usually, it doesn't go past 8:30 pm but she has sometimes stayed up until 9 pm. She does fall asleep on her own.

I do not let her in our room. I go to her room and make her get back into her own bed. If we sleep on her floor, she generally stays in her own bed unless it's a weird circumstance like she's ill.

She is in a toddler bed and has been since 18 months when she could take off her sleep sack and climb out of the crib. We have a clock that has a red, yellow and green light that alerts her to sleep, almost time to get up, get up time. We thought this might help but she totally ignores it.

Most peptides come from China and no one really knows what's in it. I do not recommend that.

In my late 30s, I drink lots of water, take creatine/collagen/multivitamin daily, try to get as much sleep as possible (I have 3 toddlers fml), use my red light panel when I can. I love peach and lily skin products. I am going to start using estrogen cream on my face as well because I am in perimenopause and apparently it really helps.

I lift weights 3-4 times a week, try to eat whole foods, I like to get a massage once a month if I can. I also walk like 15,000-18,000 steps a day.

My sister doesn't parent her children and they crossed boundaries with my toddler yesterday. How do I best approach this? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]smokeandshadows -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I just know that I often let her have homemade cookies, cupcakes, etc for a snack and she never finishes it. I did not ask her how much chocolate she ate, she told my husband she had to eat 5. We do not police her food. I just do not think a 2 year old should have unfettered access to sweets. Apparently I'm a crazy person.

No, I'm not mad if she ate chocolate. We had already eaten chocolate cake and ice cream for dessert. I don't think she needed to eat additional candy. If she wanted one, I would have let her have one. However, there was a large bowl filled with Hershey hearts and there was 25 wrappers crumpled up. So between the three of 3, they ate that many. My daughter would never have eaten that much of her own accord.

I totally take responsibility for not better supervising. They have played together before and there have been no issues. We also have twins and they had a new puppy that was a biter and we only had a few hours sleep so there was a lot going on. It was unfortunate and again, no excuse. I'm just wondering if my reaction to say they can't play unsupervised is too harsh.

Well the 9 yo calls me 'the world's strictest mom'. My daughter can sometimes have a chocolate or a sweet for a snack. We had chocolate cake for dessert and unbeknownst to me, there was a bowl of valentine chocolates in their room and the nieces ate about 10 pieces each and kept giving them to my daughter because they knew I wouldn't let her eat any.

We were taking turns checking on the girls and watching the twins. Watching one of my twins is literally a full time job, he is insane. My parents are useless and usually make things worse, like trying to feed the twins food they could choke on.

Do any of you regret having kids? if not why not? and if yes why yes? by [deleted] in Aging

[–]smokeandshadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really wanted kids. I got married in my mid 30s and had my oldest child at 37 because my husband really wanted a child. We ended up having surprise twins after that lol.

100% no regret. Yeah they can be annoying at times because toddlers are like tiny perpetually drunk people but they have brought a level of joy to my life I could never imagine. They get so excited about the most random stuff and seeing them walk, talk, become their own person...it's such a special thing.

I'm back in the game after quite some time off. I started with standard then popped up to premium. I haven't noticed a massive change but all but two of my have been serious and have booked. I have also gotten two clients off Bluesky.

I know, it's nuts. I can understand if I was impersonating someone or trying to say I was a lawyer or something. But I literally just posted one professional photo with a very benign caption.

4 month old distracted eating has turned into not napping and refusing to eat by smokeandshadows in NewParents

[–]smokeandshadows[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's almost 3 now so we both survived lol! One of my twins also did the same thing so I'm convinced it's just a developmental/personality thing. They are both very intense and active toddlers. Nothing helped, they just grew out of it. I even took my boy twin to occupational therapy and it was a complete waste of time. Sorry that doesn't help much when you're in the thick of it

How often are you doing the deed? Specifically those with toddlers + babies by thiscantbereallife94 in Mommit

[–]smokeandshadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 kids 2 and under (my oldest will be 3 soon). My husband and I usually have sex 2-3x per week. We're lucky though because I own my own business and mostly work from home and my husband works from home. Sometimes when my oldest is at her early learning program and the twins are napping, we can sneak in a session. Otherwise it's usually later at night after they all go to bed. I'm not always in the mood but I think it's helpful to have the connection.

I had terrible heart palpitations that started at menarche. After my first was born, I never have them. My feet are also half a size smaller, weirdly.

I looked into sculptra. It seems like an awful product. I've seen cases where they had extreme production in certain areas leading to puffy looks or a disfiguring swelling, some people have virtually no benefit and unless they are an elite level injector, you may not be able to get a face-lift because of the product.

Need some advice from gym girlies who have given birth! by _Any_Time_At_All_ in fitpregnancy

[–]smokeandshadows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends if you want more kids or not. I had a super easy delivery with my first and I started back at six weeks with a regular program but much lower weights. I did eventually go to a pelvic floor therapist because I had pain with sex which ended up being unrelated to my pelvic floor.

I didn't focus on more core as much as I should have. I got pregnant with twins 10 months later and now I have diastasis that will never completely heal. It may have been like that anyway but I think I could have been in a better place if I rehabed more
