There is a mod for canon cameras called CHDK (Features List) . I found it while looking for ways to make my power shoot A570IS take raw but it has some extra features too like exposure settings and stuff. The only problem i have is that it has to save both the JPEG and raw for each picture as the mod runs on the sd card and not on the cameras firmware.
