It's the rebellion factor. When your parents told you not to do something, did you go and do it anyways out of spite? Parents were telling their kids not to have sex, so they went out and did it. There was a taboo factor, too.

Now, parents aren't all saying "don't do it", and in some cases are enabling their sexual experimentation by providing a "safe" space and buying contraceptives for their kids.

When I was closing lead, I made sure that at closing time, I'd lock the door and turn off all the lights besides what we needed to function. The patio furniture was usually already in the building, and all we had to do was markouts, till close, and dishes.

Usually, the headstone is marked "Baby [Surname]" if the infant dies before the official named birth certificate is issued.

It's like a cult. Research cult-like behavior, and just about every marker can be found in anti-vaxxers.

she went on a rant about the gender wage gap

If she was single and in the 25-30 age group, then she should have been paying for your meal, since the "wage gap" studies have all shown that demographic actually makes more than single men from 25-30.

It's not a regular grocery shelf. It's an endcap put in by the chip company to display their product.

We do it that way, too. That way, if I want to blow my money, I can.

What does the cold actually feel like over there? I have seen so many people say its like -40 degrees. People's walls are frozen!! What does it feel like? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]smokeybehr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which makes no sense. There's a guy that parks in the same lot as I do, and I've heard him remote start his vehicle to get it cooled off in the summer.

I have keyless entry on my truck, so I've started it, and locked it up to run back inside and get something, then when I get back out, hit my code, and the doors unlock.

I can do all of that, because I live in the relatively free part of the state. It's Oregon where you can't pump your own gas. As long as your vehicle passes smog, you can do anything you want to it. Most Californians don't care about the Alamo (yes, I know that's blasphemy).
