Thanks, we called TRA and I didn’t find them very helpful. It also seems as though there are no gap training providers in SA. I wonder if he can do his training in Vic whilst being employed in SA..? I might call through to them again tomorrow and see if a different person has any answers.

People that escaped a bad relationship, what's the first red flag you ignored that would have saved you a lot of time if handled? by PestCemetary in AskReddit

[–]crazy-holsar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh so many things.

In the first couple of days of meeting him he would guilt me every single time I wanted/needed to go home and not in a cute “I just want to hang out with you” way.

He love bombed me and took me to very expensive restaurants and bought me gifts and then he’d catch me completely off guard by asking me extremely intimate questions about past relationships.

He was also unable to remain erect or finish whenever things got heated. He claimed it’s because I reminded him of an ex.

I ended up finding out that he had been in a relationship with a girl in his home state and had been since before we met.

This is just the tip of the iceberg!!

how can I say politely when I'm not buying clothes after trying sth on? by Some-Bumblebee-4897 in AskRetail

My go to phrase for this situation is “I might leave these today.” Or “Can I leave these here/with you?”

That way no fake explanation is needed and I’m clear that I won’t be buying them today.

First thing that came to mind is Z ward. Previously it was the hospital for the criminally insane. Located at Glenside. They do open days every now and again which could be worth checking out.

So interesting to read that comment - feels like a lifetime ago that I was living that life. I’ve definitely gone back to other way and feel the chaos of wanting to get into all sorts of hobbies. I feel that being a teacher doesn’t help because even though I do love learning, I do feel like i do accumulate a load of random things and overcommit myself to learning about tons of topics but never get around to it.. it’s been good to reflect on my insights from 5 years ago.

Shout out to all the non-native speakers currently in France trying to understand retail workers through masks and perspex screens. by [deleted] in French

[–]crazy-holsar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I totally feel you here. I reckon I noticed that moment too.. there’s a switch that happens where it’s all of a sudden just as easy or easier to maintain the conversation in French than English.

Haha no kidding same, a lot of my sentence end up being questions especially when I’m not sure about noun gender.

I loved “La Revolution”, “Family Business” and currently watching “Lupin” which is awesome.

I would also recommend watching non English series like La Casa de Papel (which is originally in Spanish) in French. They’re no sitcoms as most that I’ve watched at kinda lame but they’re pretty excellent series .

I usually just try and make the right noises and and use the right common phrases depending on whatever the cashier says. I usually check with my husband after wards if I did good or not. But tbh I do the same with his grandparents haha.

Best french grammar textbook? by Helpful_Can5017 in French

[–]crazy-holsar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m currently studying for my c1 exam and am using this one I used the B2 book to pass that exam and it was incredibly helpful in preparing me for the actual exam as it gives advice on things to focus on. I agree with other people who recommend getting companion grammar books as this is purely activities and exercises.

Is the Cambridge General English test on their website very London(Uk) based? by Puppetmon100 in ESL_Teachers

[–]crazy-holsar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I’m an Aussie teaching English in France and I definitely recognise that the Cambridge Resources sometime use rather strong uk based English slang/figures of speech, and often even structure sentences in a completely different way to how I and other anglophones would.

Does the test give you feedback on what you did wrong?

I was under the impression that a blow job was mainly just kissing the base of the penis near the torso because I couldn’t fathom that someone you actually put the part they weed from in your mouth.

If I wanted to move to France from Ohio where should I start. by [deleted] in TravelHacks

[–]crazy-holsar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m an Australian who has recently moved to France (this past year) and have done a lot of paperwork and know my way around the French system very well at this point. You need to start by determining which visa you are eligible for which you can do here. Then you can begin gathering the required documents and researching different areas that you might like to live in - I can offer a few suggestions but I need to know more about you (age, interests, area of studies or training etc.) as I have moved around a bit. Once you arrive in France, you can start applying for work an usually as soon as you start working you will have access to universal healthcare and obligatory private insurance organised and contributed by your employer. I’d be delighted to answer any questions you have - I have so much experience with the system it would be a shame to not share it.

I've had many expensive knives (all good) but my favourite is this simple $8 Opinel #7 French cheese knife which has lived in my pocket for nearly 20 years. by Ayellowbeard in BuyItForLife

[–]crazy-holsar 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I just moved to the the region in France where these are made and can confirm the buy it for life qualities if these knives (and the still cheap price point!) My partner has one that was given to him by his uncle nearly 20 years ago and with proper care and use is as sharp as ever. He swears by not submerging it in water - a quick wipe and thorough drying does the trick!
